How does the above apply to Islamic extremists?
Can you draw me a picture of how the above comforts a child who is told he might go to Hell if he does wrong in a Christian church?
In your opinion can religion be replaced with something else to bring peace or comfort to people?
How does religion help the fear of the millions of poor people living in the slums of South America...or those who are infected by Aids in Africa? Does religion provide false hope?
Dont get me wrong...Im all about learning new things, but I seriously find flaw with your caption above....religion "creates" fear and loathing....it creates borders that in turn creates animosity between nations...and people.

The fact that it might help the odd person does not mean that its religion that is the cure...man is inherantly good and people will help each other to better themselves without the need for a dogma.
Looking forward to your answers seeing as though people cant email you...

Faith helps finds purpose to those alone and in pain. For many, faith can bring new life, and define a meaning for them.
Islam-there is no excuse for terrorism. Obviously the murderers are blaming all their problems on the West. That isn't true, they need to look at themselves.
A small child will not go to hell.
Peace and comfort can be found in many ways. Faith brings purpose. Religion is a foundation.
Faith provides hope for the poor, and those with disease. Miracles happen. If I had a disease, I would certainly pray and try to get my life right. Jesus when he spoke, talked a lot about the poor.
