i think darker highlights give a more exotic look to red hair

Oh go for it! I did it and I have not regretted it, I've now been adding some blonde highlights for 10 years and my hair is in very good condition- though it wasn't always as I did dye it all white blonde for a couple of years. Just stear clear of very light blonde shades and your hair should be fine. Mine's a very light red though so it has lots of blonde highlights naturally too which helps. How dark is your hair? Choose a highlight that compliments your own colouring and only let a professional dye red hair as it's not easy to do it at home! xxxx

I also have waist lentgth red hair. I did try blonde highlights once and it looked really good. However I have more of a copper tone so it depends on the red of your hair. I also tried black highlights and that looked much better.
I would say try a small piece in the back and see how that works. If you like it do the rest, if not you will only have to dye the little piece back.

Blonde highlites always look really nice in red hair, but it's very hard to get red into blonde...the hair tends to end up looking pink. It's very expensive in long hair, as well. They charge more, the longer your hair is.
I would go for a caramel colored highlite, or maybe an auburn or light brown, to offset the red and really make it pop. Red hair is so unique and beautiful, just make sure you accentuate it, and not cover it up. Just whatever you do, make sure you go to a salon and have it done. It could very well be a disaster if you don't have it professionally done. Good luck!

blonde highlights looks nice in red hair however I really wouldnt do it to hair that long. For one it would cost a fortune because theyd need to use a LOT of dye and also you need to have it redone every few months to take care of your roots so I would only do it if you plan to cut to like 4-5 inches below shoulder at most.

Not with red hair. You should cut your hair to about 4 to 6 inches below your shoulders.

Put blac lowlights teh will bring out the detail in the hair then put blown highlights or even blonde but dont put just the highlights that would look strange.

Blonde highlights and red hair? Doesn't go. Try a darker shade of red or black highlights.

Blonde hair lights would look pretty weird in red hair. Maybe try some different colors.

I have red waist length hair, and i personally dont think blonde streaks go well with red. My hair has tiny streaks of golden colours and i like it, so i would opt for thin, golden streaks rather than full on blonde. Good luck :)
