Is that really true? Does that mean that bad things don't happen to christians, or when they do, it is God's will that had some purpose?

Say a devout Christian person had his small son kidnapped and killed, now, was this to "test" the man's faith- if so, then what did the child do to deserve being tortured?
Did the man just not pray hard enough?
Was this punishment to the man for some past sin? IF so, what did the child do to deserve this?
Or do you believe that the child couldn't have been innocent and deserved it?

Is it possible that chaos ALSO exists for people who follow "God's plan"? or is this not possible since those who follow God's plan don't get punished like the rest of us, and when they do, it is either a "test" or a "punishment"....
for the believer, is this a win win situation faith?

If you believe that, you deserve what you get. It's only win, win for the church because when this kind of injustice happens, Christians ask their church why and the church says "everything is god's will and it all happens for a reason" then the gullible believer is pacified and goes on making donations and the church continues to be one of the richest organizations on the planet. If you question the church, it has the built in safety net that you are a bad christian.

Basically, there are a lot of good and bad people in the world. Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Jews, Hindus, etc are not any luckier, unluckier, better or worse than anyone else. They only think they are. Church, mosque, temple, synagogue roofs fall in and kill people the same as trains, planes and automobiles crash killing people regardless of religion.

Chaos, as you put it, exists equally for all and there's no special treatment for anyone regardless of religion, philosophy, race, gender, colour, size or what they had for breakfast. Sorry to burst your religious bubble but life is short for some and longer for others. Humans all die at some point. There are no chosen ones that don't die. It's always been this way and always will be. If being superstitious makes you feel better, I'm happy for you. Wise up.

B well.

Yes, all our steps are ordered but sometimes we decide to use our free will instead of following God's plan and we get lost and things go wrong. Even Christians stray and have to be guided back on the path so yes bad things do happen to Christians, we are all sinners. But, what makes a sinner into a saint is that they have since to get up, get back on track and ask God for forgiveness. If someone's son got killed that is not God. God does not wish that we should perish. Some people do die before their time and that's because of the free will of man. Chaos happens to everyone Christians just are better equiped to deal with it and get through it because we have God on our side. Christians do get tested all the time. Some are just real good at the test that they get fewer and fewer.

God does not control what happens in a persons life. He did not create us to be puppets on a string for him to manipulate. When bad things happen they happens to everyone. Christians are not excluded form persecution here on earth. God never told us life would be a breeze here on earth if we excepted him into our hearts. We live in a very ugly and cruel world, where people only care about themselves and their own personal satisfaction. The difference is that when something ugly like the kidnapping and wrongful death of an innocent child occurs a christian does not blame God. He accepts this as something that happens. He leans on Jesus to get him through his grief and accept the situation. God does not protect us from the cruelty of this world. You can't go for a drive down a busy highway and say oh I can drive however I want because the Lord is with me. You pray for the Lord to allow you to drive with alertness and defensively. The Lord does protect us from harm but does not put a plastic bubble around our lives and say you are never going to feel pain or sadness. That is what heaven is for, we are living on this earth as a test of our faith to see if we Love the Lord enough to stay by his side even in the darkest of days.

God created the world and wants everything to be good. However, man has responsibility in fulfilling that even though it's 10% only.

When man did insufficiently, things go awry too even though it was God's intention for order and goodness to occur. It's difficult to say what is sin and what is innocence because most things can't be judged unless we know God's thinking. The bible clearly states that man's thinking is not God's thinking. Thus it is difficult to say that we go through hardships because of sin and not for training The important thing is to remain thankful at all times and give thanks. Then if it's training by God, we will reap the fruits at the end. If it's due to sin, then being thankful is also a form of repentance.

I'm not a Christian, but I do believe in a "Divine Plan." And I think the scariest part of that for me was when I was afraid that my best friend might be really ill and I realized that prayers cannot be answered that way. What will be, will be. Why would God save MY friend and not the babies starviong in 3rd world nations if it was just a matter of prayer? My friend is fine, and I believe that she is because God intended for her to be okay all along. If she hadn't been, it would have been just the way it was meant to be. In MY opinion, nothing is "punishment" or "deserved." It just is. I try just to trust the Deity and know it will turn out for the best in teh grand scheme of things.

Blessings to you. )O(

There is a big difference between going through bad times alone, and going through them with someone who can carry most of that burden for you. .

In response to your question about the child. The child did not do anything to deserve getting done that way, but God did take him home with him in heaven where he is safe and again happy in God's arms. There are many many things that we dont understand in this world. And when we come to those things, this scripture applies..

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Look at what happend to Jesus, and He was without sin and did not do anything wrong to deserve what they did to HIm. Bad things happen to the Children of God, just like anyone else. The Christians just don't go thorugh it alone. They have Jesus with them to comfort them through it all. Praise the Lord!!

It ought to be a win win situation for a christian.Bad things do happen to christians,to test or faith. In the described situation,it could be to test the father's faith,as to just how much he truly loves God(wether it is just because he has a son?) and wether this love is only for the good things in his life.

Everyone receives karmic reactions for his past deeds. For pious deeds we receive enjoyment and for impious deeds we receive suffering. The child may have killled somebody in his past life, so now he is killed. That is the law of karma in this material world, and God is not directly interferring with it, unless people involved are His devotees.
God's plan is that everybody should serve Him with love and be happy. But this love for the Lord must be volunteer. Because we wanted to be independent from Him, we are now entrapped in our own actions in this material world. We can only be freed, if we surrender to the Lord.
Actually everybody follows God's plan. That is confirmed in the Bhagavad-gita, where Supreme Personality of Godhead states:

ye yathā māḿ prapadyante

tāḿs tathaiva bhajāmy aham

mama vartmānuvartante

manuṣyāḥ pārtha sarvaśaḥ

"As all surrender unto Me, I reward them accordingly. Everyone follows My path in all respects."

Everything is under Lord's direction. Just as prisonhouse and university are both government institutions, also this material world and spiritual world are both controlled by the Lord. The difference is that prisoners have to work hard, and they only get bad food, and they have no freedom, but university students are making advancement, and they are free to walk everywhere, and they are much happier than prisoners. So those people who live in this material world have to work very hard, but they just get some little flickering happiness, which is soon destroyed by the laws of nature. On the other hand, Lord's devotees in the spiritual world are free and always happy and enjoying in Lord's company.
We have our free choice and we have to make decision, which world we want to be in.

God never guarantees we will never have problems, but he does promise that if we trust in him,and follow his ways,he will give us what we need to get through the rough times.God desires for us to have a complete and prosperous life,he never enjoys our suffering, but think about it,if we never had to go through a trial how could we appreciate the good times? We need to cast our burdens upon the lord,he carries us through our darkest time, and smiles and dances with us during our prosperous times. The bible says for everything there is a time and a season.

We could spend forever discussing things like this, and religious folks would always be able to think of an answer (even if it's only "God Knows Best") but in reality we know that it's all religious mythology and therefore a moot point.
