Leviticus 25:45 (New International Version)
------------------------------------------------------
45 You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property

Leviticus 25:45 (New King James Version)
------------------------------------------------------

45 Moreover you may buy the children of the strangers who dwell among you, and their families who are with you, which they beget in your land; and they shall become your property.

I don't understand - which one is the word of God? In one version it says temporary residents, and in another its telling me its ok to own children as property. I'm just confused because I want to "get right with the word of God". It seems one Bible is telling me its right to own children as property. That I can buy them even.

So God allows me to have child slave auctions? Yes? Leviticus 25:45 (NKJV) Is it the word of God?

If we aren't living in the Old Testament, then why is the Old Testament used to verify prophesies in the New Testament. I'm confused, thanks Jim. I better go read Leviticus again, it's so uplifting.

In the old testament times were differant than the are now. Temporary residents and the children of the strangers among you are the same thing it is just worded differant. You need to get you a concordance and a study bible. You also need to be in church to where you can ask your preacher these types of questions. Some stuff is just hard for people to understand and explain if they don't just study the word of God like ministers do. But it's not telling you that you can own children as slaves. By children it means the children of God. There are also books that will explain the bible to you sentence by sentence but you have to be careful to get one that is biblically correct. Also what denomination are you, I was wondering because depending on your denomination and other people's then opinions really will vary.

Well, when you look at context you may see that they are pretty much saying the same thing. You are only looking at the first part of the NKJ version. When you read further, you see that it talks about members of their clans, which could be the equivalent of family and children.
Also, I recommend the New King James Version because it was translated from the original Greek and Hebrew. NIV, although good for extra help, with tough passages in the Bible, is more man's interpretation of the Bible.
Last of all, remember the old law has been abolished due to Christ dying on the cross.

Neither.

These are "laws" made by priests trying to rule a land in a fashion that they felt was Godly. Back then it was no big deal to have slaves. ESPECIALLY people that were poor wanderers, women with no other way to support themselves, and Enemies of the State and their women and Children. Today, slavery is considered barbaric all over the world, but selling and smoking cigarettes is considered okay.... for now. It's only a matter of time before Cigarettes are outlawed or otherwise branded unacceptable (as opposed to just 'bad' like they are right now).

The important thing to remember is that GOD didn't posses several men to write the Bible through them like, say, Agent Smith possessed that one guy and burned Neo's eyes out with him. People with a noteworthy familiarity of GOD wrote a code of conduct that they honestly believed would be acceptable in GOD's eyes. Situations like the 'thumbs up' to slavery only prove that point.

So, for Christ's sake, stop confusing yourself with these trivial loopholes. The Bible and GOD are all they claim to be whether you want them to be or not. It's not GOD's fault if you wouldn't know his will from a hole in the ground.

Take a pure glass of water. Start to slowly add drops of vinigar over a period of time. What you end up with is diluted vinigar and no more pure water.

When companies print new versions of the bible with the lie of saying they are easier to understand, they have changed the true meaning of the word of God so much that is is no longer God's word, but the word of man, all in the name of money and a brand new patient on this so called "better to understand" bible. That is a lie as well as the drastic changes they make in all new bibles.

Stick with the KJV, and study it daily. Make sure you have a study bible with a concordnance which will help you better understand it's meaning to words you don't understand. Get a bible dictionary as well. These study tools are very helpful. Eventually all the words of the KJV bible will be crystal clear to you. Join a bible study group as well.

2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Rightly dividing means to fully understand God's word. Pray before you read, and ask God to open His word to you and He will, at His pace, not yours.

God bless you.

Yeah you kinda have been given the thought, staring / making eye touch with a female does no longer mean the guy likes her. In MY attitude, it may propose 3 issues: a million. the guy is delicate speaking to the girl, and is delicate along with her presence around (basically acquaintances). I loads of acquaintances that are females and that i continuously make eye touch as quickly as I talk over with them, it rather is basically casual u kno? 2. the guy needs to fulfill the girl / is interested in her (acquaintance). the two that, or... the girl is extraordinary-looking or grotesque lol. yet nevertheless, adult men does not stare at a female that long if she's like that. 3. the guy likes the girl. He does not comprehend a thank you to particular his emotions, yet needs he ought to locate a thank you to attain this. i could inform you right this moment up a thank you to tell which a sort of perspectives does a guy propose while he makes eye touch or stares, yet i do no longer think of i will. you should basically.. kinda sense it. stable luck, you would be extra accustomed to it alongside the way haha. wish this helped ;)

Nope, sorry.
Taking one verse out of context does not justify child slave auctions.
We are not under the old convenant any more, we are under grace.
And yes, Leviticus 25:45 is the Word of God.

Therein lies the problem of being a Biblical literalist! As you walk in faith and study the Bible, there are many, many places where it contradicts itself outright, or suggests that things are legal or illegal that contradict modern traditions and laws.

You absolutely cannot get bogged down in the forrest by trying to understand every tree's existence. Read the Bible, but understand that the Great Commandment, "That ye shall love one another as I have loved you" is the most important part to act on.

Well if you do purchase them you better follow all the rules for their treatment after wards. The Jewish people were not to be abusive to their slaves and undoubtedly treated theirs better than anyone else of their day. And did you really want to leave the children in the custody of parents who would sell them anyway.

It's a lot better than today when you can have a doctor rip them limb from limb while they are still alive in the womb or to use them for experiments.

I suppose what I don't get, if the majority of Christians say that these laws are no longer used because events in the New Testament wiped them clean then why do they even have them in their bibles anymore? Why cling to useless information no longer needed or is it kept 'just in case".
