Two days ago I placed a question on this forum. It has been deleted by Yahoo Answers. Is the mere asking of a question fair and reasonable grounds for deleting it ?

The question was on religious freedom and liberty. It showed that Roman Catholicism is both intolerant of religous freedom and of the liberty of conscience according to its own papal teachings. I was fined 9 points and the question was deleted. Is this fair and reasonable ?

Same thing happened to me .......a perfectly relevant question was removed......they said that you could appeal.......did that with my reasons.......they did not have the courtesy to reply to me...what does that say about YAHOO. Why and who decides what is right for removal?

A good analog may be:

You're a guest in someone's living room. There's a crowd in the place, and "it" is h-u-g-e.

Now, you know as a guest you MUST behave. But does everyone else ?

A conversation starts, pretty soon it's a cacophony, still no fist-fights and no need to call the cops.

But then the sociopath element drifts in. A fart here, a burp there. And then it happens: fractal chaos begins to swirls from the living quarters faster and faster until it mushrooms into hyperspace.

Now, what do you do ?. Do you call the swat team, or let the house go up in flames.

Well, you dial 911 by clicking report abuse.

Daily mail yesterday nixed my negative comment on pharma industry offering a panacea to premature emmmm...premature...people...who...well...they calim if you take 60mg of some psycho drug you can last 2.78 mins as opposed to 45 seconds, and I opined that it's not worth the addictive risks, is all I offered. It's not my imagination, either.

It was never allowed on.

Feh...sticks and stones.

Obviously they won't bite the hand that feeds them...fine.

THAT'S censorship.

i remember an excellent quote, said by george bush senior, and am crediting it to his speechwriters on the basis that i am biased against that man. fair enough!

anyway, he said " the right to free speech does not give you the right to run into a theatre and shout 'fire' "

it's an excellent point.

i believe in democracy. i believe that people have the right to their own opinions, regardless whether they differ from ours.

but i also believe that racial, religious and sexual intolerance is facilitated by people who abuse the right to free speech.

yahoo answers does need to be monitored. there are questions on here that are inciteful, and yes i have reported two for this. but i can assure you, they were more than inciteful...they were downright inflammatory. and yet they were allowed. and i've had friends who have asked perfectly rational, legitimate and fair questions that have been deleted as abuse!!

i have no idea how yahoo is monitored...obviously not very successfully! i think maybe we could ask a question on this very issue and ask everyone to sign it...like an on-line petition and then perhaps yahoo would realise that it's 'abusive content' system needs to be addressed.

in fact...i think i'll post a question like that just now...

do you think yahoo will delete it?!!

I'm afraid freedom of speech does not mean that people will be fair. It is just a principle, and not a reality.

Yahoo are running a forum, and they are just letting you know that they can do whatever they like. Try deleting some of your own questions and answers, it's great fun!

Have you ever seen a party political broadcast from the monster raving lunatic party on television? It's not fair is it?

I left this question open in a tab for a at an identical time as, reloaded to work out if it were deleted. It hasn't.... stable luck i assume. I actual have been stated a pair of circumstances, usually while i comprehend i'm being a smartarse yet hi oh properly like maximum right here, countless debts can remedy that difficulty - except this is immoral. the only time I actual have stated somebody is for being ridiculously insulting (on the two sides) we are a minimum of attempting to have a clever debate on right here yet in some circumstances humorous is humorous.

Someone didn't like the question, you know someone with a closed mind, fixed point of view or just plain arrogant to they reported it as an abusive question. As Yahoo answers is probably only run by computers that can't sort out good and bad questions, and I thought your was a good one, it just deletes it.
You have probably discovered the major flaw in Yahoo answers but I don't thin there is an easy solution unless their monitoring system is improved.

Someone is trying to control content.... some questions that are worthy are indeed being removed.... it makes no sense... while others that are stupid and racist are allowed.... and spell check is absent today....

I answered one about big boned, not fat.... by the time I posted my answer, it was deleted:

That is no excuse for stupidly wasting the taxpayer's money.... you are just a servant of the people, not the elitist ruler you envision...

We expect strong bones, little fat, and a well filled grainery.

In other words, a lean capable government dedicated to our protection, freedom, rights, and sovereignty as a nation, little or preferably no national debt, and a good smooth running economy that is not warped by self serving politicians and not saddled by foreign aid and pork.

I wouldn't know. I don't think Yahoo cares about the things that they should. For example, I received three violation notice emails just now. I'll accept two of them, because fair is fair. ONE of them, however, Yahoo is going to hear from me on. Repeatedly. I answered the question "One bullet: Bush or Blair?" with:
" Neither. I hope the Secret Service shows up at your house for asking such a question."

Reason of Violation:Not a Question or Answer

I know who reported me for it. It doesn't bother me too much, because 1) I will GLADLY fight Yahoo. I'm not too scared to take them on. 2) The person who reported me will soon be suspended, for impersonation, harassment, and insulting other participants.

Two separate people, believe me. I've had correspondence with both, and though their opinions are similar, they are very much different people.

Everyone is entitled to ask questions ... and everyone else is just as entitled to report them for perceived injustice ...

There are some strange people on here who seem to delight in reporting questions for fun.

I personally would let all questions stand and leave the person asking the question open to all kinds of abuse or support ... we live in a democracy after all (don't we?)

No, it is NOT fair. They need to be deleting and fining these kids that ask these stupid questions. One of mine was deleted a couple days ago to that referred to how ones opinion was regarding Muslims.
