my nephew doesn't like swallowing pills.
don't try to force him to swallow it just with water, if he's stubborn he won't do it and he'll just throw up.
the easiest way is to put it in a little bowl of applesauce (don't crush it). when he eats the applesauce the pill will go right down with it!
p.s. what kind of pill is this? is a liquid form available?

Pill swallowing is really hard for kids especially as we're always being told right from an early age to chew everything well!

Try and bury the pill in icream or chocolate mousse or something your child likes. Maybe crush it in, if need be.

Otherwise as the doctor if it comes as a liquid. This is a lot easier for children. Usually doctors are pretty understanding about this issue.

My mom would put pills in applesauce. She didn't crush them up, but they would go right down with the applesauce. You could also try using yogurt, jello, or pudding too. My daughter is still young enough that her doc always prescribes liquid meds, but not looking for to the day of pills. Good luck.

Call the pharmacy and see if the medicine comes in a liquid form and ask the doctor to change the prescription.

You know I used food, but applesauce still kind of lets the nasty flavor out, so I used pudding. He couldn't see it and he loves choclate pudding so it worked easy. Also if you are worried about sugar intake the make sugar free. Yogurt worked good to for when he got tired of pudding.

put it in his food. but make sure the pills can be eaten with food first and whether or not its ok to have it crushed(cause he may bite into it)
some pills are not meant to be crushed before swallowing.

I had the same problem with my child when she was young. hopfully it is the kind you can crush on a spoon, thats what i did and i mixed it in a little water, if it is capsules try opening them up and puting them in juice. by forcing your child to swollow them he will only gag, trust me tryed that. its not good for the child.
