Basically, he's storing certain items that may be of value in the attic of his house during his round, then later that evening he goes and opens them up to see if they're worth keeping. Things that could be CD's, DVD's etc and any important looking small parcels. Anything he doesn't want he dumps in the lake or the forest. Do I report him or keep quiet?

You should report him. If this was happening to you what would you want someone in your position to do?

It is the right thing to do.

OH MY GOD you have to report him. it is postmen like him that are costing me my livelyhood. I depend on a strong income from ebay and when my parcels go missing I have to refund someone there money, even though I do not get the parcel back! That is bad. He is stealing people gifts, childrens gifts, granparents gifts, & peoples money. these things do no belong to him and he should not be allowed to keep doing this. That is why we have to work for a living, to earn those types of things.
I really am outraged by your friend I think it is disgusting what he is doing. there is no excuse for it not one and I would report him anonymously if he was my friend even if he wasn't I'd report him. How would you feel if you sent something to a little sister/ brother/ parents/ family friends whatever only for some idiot like your friend to take it in case it is valuable and if it isn't it gets DUMPED.
let you decide but you shouldn't have to ask this question really.

Thats where my parcel went!!
Seriously, I have had things go missing in the mail, its not funny and you'll have to report him. Its like shoplifting but more personal. Its not much different to burglary
I've had my kids presents go missing, stuff I've saved up for and even though we're not on the breadline, its still horrible and the post office don't compensate you past a certain amount.

Dear silly person " WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU SHOULD DO"
If you know nothing about the Post Office then your common sense should tell you to go to the police. However if you have Post Office knowledge you would contact The Post Office Investigation Department at Post Office Headquarters The are now called POSIS Post Office Investigation and Security Services

He may be your friend but he's also a criminal. Up to your sense of morality whether you tell the police or not. Personally, I'd ask him to go himself - he'd recieve a lighter sentence and people would know where their mail is. Either way, you have do do something. If he won't go himself, I'd first tell the Post Office and let them carry out investigations with the police.

This has been reported in the news in another case. He was prosecuted as it's against the law!

Report him for sure - someone high in Royal Mail or even the Police! Whether not you do is up to you and your conscience.

You need to choose your friends more carefully!
This guy is scum to be honest and you should have no hesitation whatsoever in reporting him. Think of all the distress/upset that this person may cause. He obviously doesn't give two sh1ts about anyone else and is just getting whatever he can out of this.

hell yes report him.

How many of those things are gifts to a grandchild from their grandparents? What if that is the last correspondence they ever receive before they die?

Mail is a personal thing, that on many occasion is more valuable than a 'dvd'.

Why even ask, report him.

He'll get less punishment if he's caught now -you'll be doing him a favour

Don't tell him or give him a chance, he will just think "wow, got away with that, I'll have to be more careful in future"
