Basically, he's storing certain items that may be of value in the attic of his house during his round, then later that evening he goes and opens them up to see if they're worth kepping. Things that could be CD's, DVD's etc and any important looking small parcels. Anything he doesn't want he dumps in the lake or the forest. Do I report him or keep quiet?

Report the thieving git.
There's no wonder Royal Mail are getting so much stick with untrustworthy postmen on the payroll.
I'd hate to think he had something of mine in there.
I'd come round and kick his sorry ****.

Speak to him first and say look its not fair what you are doing! How would he feel if it where the other way around and people where stealing from him? Let him know that you don't want to ruin the friendship but at the same time don't want to be friends with a thief and if he doesn't stop you will go ahead and report him! This way, if he doesn't stop then he isn't bother about your friendship and so you won't have to worry about ruining it by reporting him and if he does stop, then problem solved!

I shouldnt really say this, but thats one of the perks of a postmans job aint it?

If I have ordered a CD / DVD and it doesnt turn up, I just call whoever I bought it from and get another sent out. No harm done.

I had a friend who used to work for Royal Mail and she used to take things out of returns skip at teh back of the post office for all like catalogue returns and stuff. She had a stereo and a few nice clothes and shoes and that. And the customer who returned it still got their money back cos they had a returns stamp!

Report him anonymously. That's an awful thing for him to be doing, and if one of your friends or family got ripped off by him you'd be angry.

I've had tons of stuff go missing in the mail- including birthday cards and presents- and it's really horrible and especially upsetting to the person who sent them. Think about how these people are feeling, that's far more important than our loyalty for your friend (who frankly, sounds like a c**t!!)

If you know this to be true then you need to report the fact.

Is he ill? I am being serious not facicious, a case similar to this one was in the press recently, the postman was actually mentally ill and that is why he was not delivering the mail.

Your friend may need help too.

Report him, I have bought a couple of things off ebay and they have gone missing so I have reported it.

People paid good money for these items so why let a theiving git get away with it.

most things like dvd's cd's are required a signature. so he can't be really doing that, although if he is then its in your best interest to report him for interfering with the royal mail which is a serious offence, if he gets away with it he will go onto bigger things, nip it in the bud and get the thief sacked!

hi alex j i think you should sit your friend down and ask him how would he feel if somebody was invading his privacy like he is, any of those documents could be hospital app bill etc, tell him that if he doesn`t stop you will report him to the police or his employer, hope this helps. L

First off how do you know this????? Secondly I dont understand why you dont know what you should do. Tampering with US mail is against the law, it is soooooooooooooooooo a felony, you should have already called the post office.
Do not waste any more time, call right away.

Quite simple. This is theft of mail and needs reporting. There may be a cheque among it waiting for you.
