one side of the bed is against the wall so there is only one way for him to get out. the crib is long gone.

He may be having a hard time getting comfortable so he is moving around. Something you can do is make like a pad to put were there are no rails. Just get a few blankets or pillows, this will easy the fall. If it keeps happening you may have to look in to a bigger bed, but one you can set on the floor. So like a Full mattress and Box Spring on the floor. My son couldn't sleep in a toddler bed cause of this problem, he moved way to much. So I had to get a bigger bed on the floor then he was OK.

But the padding thing will help easy the fall and you can see if it keeps happening.

That is strange that he can fall out of bed with the rails, but I know my daughter has done that too. Do you have the bed so that one side is against a wall? That will make there only be one side he can fall out of at least. Then maybe you can roll up a blanket or use a large stuffed animal and put it between him and the rail. He must just be really active at night, like my daughter. She is 6 now and is still all over the bed at night. She goes from her head being at one end, to it being at the other end, to being sideways. He's probably doing the same thing. Or is it possible he's slightly waking up and maybe trying to get out bed, falling and that wakes him completely up?

Some children just move around more in bed at night! I would put pillows down on the floor to catch him when he falls out, and place one side of the bed against the wall. Tucking him in tightly with a larger blanket that wraps under the mattress is a good idea! Thank goodness toddler beds are close to the floor! ;o) good luck!

Get a mesh bed rail. Its more like a net than a rail and should go the length of the bed and you butt it up against a wall on the unrailed side or use two rails. Otherwise, what is the big deal keeping him in a crib for another year?

He may be feeling unwell and is trying to get up to see you but he falls over the railing trying to do so. My boys often come to my bed in the middle of the night when they're sick. There now aged 3 and nearly 5. Or he's having nightmares.

What is with these junky toddler beds and overprotective mom? Put the kid in a real bed after he is potty trained/or mattress protector on the bed. He falls out so what. Maybe he outgrew his toddler bed? My daughter wont take her kids out of one until they probably are twenty one and on their own! She was in a real bed by two...if not earlier. Kids need room to move and toss and turn and even make believe. They outgrow these beds to soon. Never did believe that they were nothing more than a money hype for the parents.

why'd u take him out of his crib so early? Just because he's a toddler, doesn't mean he's needs to be in a toddler bed. My son just turned two and I'm not in any rush to put him in a little bed yet. He stays put inthe crib thru the night and the morning.
Unless your son was climbing dangerously out of his crib, I wouldn't take him out yet.

My suggestion is to lay out a think comforter or pillows night time to absorb the fall. I'd consider putting him back in his crib...or maybe it's just a coincidence the past two nights, he might never do it again.

put some pillows outside the bed on the floor where he'd fall, so even if he does, won't hurt. At this age, they still like to move around quite a bit during sleep.

I went instantly from the crib to a twin mattress at 16 months. To be honest, i might want to recommend that you do not waste your money on a toddler mattress. they're surely meant for use as a transition so as that they don't look very well outfitted; they're truly flimsy. Your new child will outgrow it very immediately. basically keep the money you've used for a sturdy twin mattress with siderails.
