Pulmonary tuberculosis--any infection causes immunological response . In this body fights the infection. This causes fever. Killed bacteria of Tuberculosis circulate in blood and act as toxins. There is active infection in the lung with cavitation leading to bloody hemoptysis. The toxins produced by any infection causes fever and weight loss if chronic. The immune system is working to ward off the infection, an infection secondary to a primary complex years before.

Tuberculosis can develop after inhaling droplets sprayed into the air from a cough or sneeze by someone infected with the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
The usual site of the disease is the lungs, but other organs may be involved. The primary stage of the infection is usually asymptomatic (without symptoms). In the United States, the majority of people will recover from primary TB infection without further evidence of the disease.
Primary pulmonary TB develops in the minority of people whose immune systems do not successfully contain the primary infection. In this case, the disease may occur within weeks after the primary infection. TB may also lie dormant for years and reappear after the initial infection is contained.

P.T.B IS A DISEASE CAUSED BY A MYCOBACTERIA WHICH HAVE A SPECIAL GLYCOLIC ACID INTHERE CELLWALL WHICH HELPS THEM TO RESSIT THE DIGESTION AND DESTRUCTION BYTHE NEUTROPHILS AS SOON AS THEY ARE DETECTED.SO THESE CELLS CARRYUNDIGESTED M.T.B BACTERIA WITHIN CAUSING THE FORMATION OF A GRANULOMA KNOWN AS A TUBERCULAR GRANULOMA.THIS CAUSES THE IMMUNE SYSTEM TO GO WRY OFF AS THE PRIMARY DEFENCE HAS FAILED AND HAS BECOME THE VICTOM.THE DOUBLE EDGED SWORED OF IMMUNITY CAUSES DESTRUCTION OF WHAT EVER SEEMS LIKE M.T.B AND THUS WE HAVE FEVER(a protective mechanism itself due to release of cytokines{IL-1,IL-6,TNF-ALPHA }and PGE-2)WT.LOSS ETC.....

Um, bacteria? I'm assuming you're asking about tuberculosis. It's caused by mycobacterium tuberculosis, specifically.
