Other than ordaining only men as Jesus did, the Catholic Church teaches equal human dignity for women and men.
Sexism is against the teachings of Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church:
Created in the image of the one God and equally endowed with rational souls, all men (and women) (this is a translation from the original Latin text) have the same nature and the same origin. Redeemed by the sacrifice of Christ, all are called to participate in the same divine beatitude: all therefore enjoy an equal dignity.
The equality of men (and women) rests essentially on their dignity as persons and the rights that flow from it:
Every form of social or cultural discrimination in fundamental personal rights on the grounds of sex, race, color, social conditions, language, or religion must be curbed and eradicated as incompatible with God's design.
With love in Christ.

I'm not catholic I'm baptist, but we have similar teachings. We do not teach that there is superior and inferior only that there are different roles for each gender in the church and in the home. For example, wives should submit to the husbands decisions, but at the same time the husband is told to love the wife. This love is not meant as a feeling toward the wife, but as an act towards the wife. Love in the Bible is often interchangable with the word charity. This would give the wife all the decision making abilities without compromising the single head of household. Thus, causing no arguments and preventing domestic strife.

We men have control issues. So when we wrote the bible we made sure that our women would not think for them selves. After all we all know women are only able to take car of children and they need help with that. We are so afraid that our women will stray away, and have sex with others, and then what happens is we are the ones taking car of some ones child that is not ours.
So we have a need to control our women. It has nothing to do with the catholic church. The big picture is Faith in general. Most Faiths women are never equal to men. In some women walk behind men. We should get over this but why? We have all the power. Would you give it up?

Yes, good question. All of Christianity (not just Catholic religion) say women are inferior as it is in the bible. People think that Islam says women are inferior, when it doesn't it states that women are equal to men in he eyes of God, the opposite to Christianity and gave rights that women in the west only just received mid-20th century. Yes western culture may give women rights but this is not in keeping with Christianity. Just as many Middle eastern (not all) countries are not in keeping with Islam religion.

Unfortunately most religions teach the same thing, that women should be subservient to men. The reason that women accept this is because they have been taught this from childhood. Also this is reinforced when men being the stronger sex in many ways, have to come to the aide of some woman. We then get the idea that we are weaker, not just in strength but in all ways. Then there is the teaching that of course orig anal sin came because of Eve and that thru her sin, all mankind is doomed. Puts a heavy burden on women, we cave. (most do)

In many ways women are even more put down by Christianity than they are in even islam. In Islam if the parents die and they have both a son and a daughter, the daughter gets 1/3 the inheritance and the son gets 2/3. So in Islam a women is worth half of a man. In Christianity the son gets everything and the women gets nothing. So in christianity women are worthless. Well not worth much anyway. In Christianity according to the bible if a man rapes a women he has to pay the father 20 shekels of silver and marry her. So I guess that is the value of women in christianity

The tradition of all Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Chritianity, Islam) is that women are inferior, the Catholics are only the most blatant about it among the Christians in Europe.
I totally share your view that there is no place for a thinking woman in any of them, although there are too many who haven't given up hope yet to change the system from within. (worked for the German Protetants, though, and for English Anglicans)

You are 100% right.
ALL religions are stupid.
Somebody has got to be pretty gullible, ignorant, and pathetic to believe the bible.
The bible is just a FICTIONAL, CONTRADICTORY book written THOUSANDS OF YEARS AGO BY RANDOM MEN. It really doesn't make sense to follow the bible in today's MODERN WORLD.
Science has proven the bible wrong/contradictory numerous times.
Now, Come on, Let's be logical. What would YOU trust--Science or religion?
I think Science. It makes more sense to because science is proof.
There is absolutely NO proof of "God", and NO proof that the bible is factual. Though common sense will tell you that it is ALL fictional. I mean, until proof that it's real comes along (which NEVER will), it is very ridiculous to believe it because it is fictional.
Believing in "God", and believing the lies of the bible is just as ridiculous as believing in Santa Clause or the Easter Bunny.

Most people are born into the Catholic Church, are baptised at birth (because in the past people were told their babies would go to limbo if they weren't) and usually are brought up believing in this. They don't get an outside perspective.
