Patois, as a nurse you should know that spontanious abortion (miscarriage) would never be prevented with prenatal care since most they are referring to happen BEFORE a woman knows they are even PREGNANT.
And furthermore, I would like you to site proof where prenatal care prevents ANY miscarriage....
there is a reason that it is called INDUCED abortion-- because you actually have to take forceful action to KILL the thing.
ARe you the kind of nurse who likes to perpetuate lies and ignorance? it would seem so........

Currently it's an exaggeration but in a few decades it will be true.
There are approximately 46 million abortions worldwide each year and since the 1960's the numbers have been increasing year on year. Historically abortions were carried out for health reasons, because the woman had been raped etc. Currently 93% of US abortions are because the child is unwanted or inconvenient.
40 years ago there were very few abortions and if we take an average of 25 million abortions a year then there have been about 1 billion over the last 40 years.
A frightening statistic is that currently, the worldwide average is one abortion per woman during her lifetime. With over 3 billion women on the planet that means about 3 billion more abortions in the next 50 years (the worldwide average female lifespan).
As for China specifically, I couldn't find any accurate information but with one on five of the world's population being Chinese you could estimate that there are currently about 10 million abortions a year in China. However, the 'one couple one child' policy is a fairly recent implementation and prior to that Chinese abortion rates would have been substantially lower. As a rough estimate I would guess that the total number of Chinese abortions falls between 100 and 200 million.

Yes but not by much
See the link below. It estimates worldwide abortions at 1.5 million a year, and this is a rising figure. Even if it was 1.5 million every year, you'd have to go back 667 years to get to a billion. This was published in 1996 and since then the annual global figure has risen to over 45 million so it won't be that long before we arrive - A sad reflection on the value of human life

The numbers average 4,000 abortions a day in the USA. So, count back to 1970. Mostly minority women are getting the abortions. The female founder of Planned Parenthood was a white supremist.
Abortion is the largest unregulated business in the USA with profits in the billions of dollars each year. In China, abortions are forced upon the population by the government.

If we assume that there are 50 million abortions a year worldwide (according the WHO stats, it's 48 million, but I want easy math), it would take 20 years to hit the 1 billion mark, but this is all guesswork, at best.
One could state that we are between 1B and 2B total abortions worldwide throughout history

What really is sick is how many babies Christians have murdered. Fifty percent of all pregnancies result in abortion . . . spontaneous abortion, or, miscarriage. Fifty percent of those babies that are lost in spontaneous abortion can be saved with proper prenatal care. Christian organizations successfully had the vast majority of prenatal care funds slashed to almost nothing in the U.S. That's a LOT of babies that Christians have murdered. Apparently, the Christian anti-choice stance is not as much about saving babies as reminding women than only "Gods" and men have the right to take life. (war, capital punishment/spontaneous abortion). I'm a nurse. I know how many babies Christians have murdered.

No exaggeration. If you factor in the ones that take place withOUT medical supervision and the ones done in clinics, I'm sure there's been a billion BABIES\HUMAN LIVES (not just 'fetuses') murdered\aborted.

How much worse would the world be if you had to compete with the aborted (had they been allowed to come to term) and their children for the available finite resources that we are now finding out won't last us much longer. We need more people to make the choice to breed responsibly and if necessary, terminate unwanted and un-needed fetuses.
