I think anybody from my generation or older is going to think of the movie with Michael Caine and possibly the remake with Jude Law. I also think it's a goofy name for a boy. It also reminds me of the name Alfalfa from the Little Rascals.
I'm sorry -- did you say your BF?? If he is not the father, he has no say.
P.S. I do like the name Alphonso (as someone else suggested). I hate the nickname Alfie, though. You could always use "Fonzie" LOL...

I personally would not name my child Alphie . But maybe it could be a good nickname .

Kinda reminds me of 'Alpha'. Think Alphie is normally spelt 'Alfie' but there's nothing wrong with an unusal spelling.
