The first time I had asparagus was in a restaurant and it was that disgusting tinned stuff. Put me off it for life - well until I went to a friend's house for dinner. She had baked trout with asparagus which was lightly sauted in butter - divine. Now absolutely one of my favourite vegetables!

We LOOOOVE asparagus! Fresh asparagus is practically a staple in this house. Lightly steamed until crisp-tender with the tough ends snapped off first. Then a homemade hollandaise sauce. Best ever.

Completely disagree....
As the a previous person mentioned it is gorgeous wrapped in Parma Ham but if you add some freshly made Hollandaise sauce it is simply devine.
Don't over cook the Asparagus though, tastes like bogies.

Yummy!
It has to be soft though...some people don't cook it enough...I like it the way it comes out of a can...I can't stand things that you have to chew for more than 2 minutes at a time...you should be able to cut through asparagus with a fork.

If you ask my brother, he will agree. My mom used to boil the cheap stuff till the tips were slimy and mushy, but nothing will ever soften those hard ends that should have been peeled. I tried it years later and had good tender spears cooked properly at a 5 star resturant in NYC and since that day - I love it.

I disagree, I love asparagus! especially if you put parmasen cheese over top of it and cook it in the oven
