How does this "will" of God differ from how you feel God's "will" is for people who, say, get trapped in a burning building and are doomed to die?

Neither of these are God's will but the will of man. God can work good from the evil that happens but He never wants it to happen.

God made us in His image, and because He loves us, he gave us free will so that we might have a relationship with Him, one where we could voluntarily reciprocate His love. Abortion is not God's will, but rather Man's will. It grieves Him, but He knows of our sinful nature.

While God knows what we will choose, He has to create a consequence for our choice. This is what they mean by God's plan, not that God leads us to do anything.

When you say trapped in a burning building, that is a very open question. Why is the building burning, etc. But it is usually a result of human carelessness, or malice - which is a choice also. He cannot override one person's choice for another, for the Bible says we are created equally. But at the same time it does not mean He doesn't love the people in the building; He allows them to die but in return they receive everlasting life with Him in Heaven.

Obstetricians estimate the up to 50% of all concpetuses are lost spontaneously, often before the pregnancy is actually realized by the woman. Induced abortions are a very small fraction of a percentage of the total number.

The conflict between free will and God's Plan is one of eternal turmoil.

Are we like gerbils in a cage, where God's part is to change the bedding, put in food and have clean water for us, as we are free to do whatever whe want?

You won't find an answer to your question here, just reasoned opinions

It is not God's will, but it is for somebodies good will. Think in this way, if the babies are all born and they are to be brought up as unwanted babies then .............. Dont try to see the negative side of everything, there is always some thing positive. God saved that little one from this dangerous world that we live in

First - your metaphor is not right, the "building" in this case is not burning, it chose to throw you from the window of the seventh floor.
And second - It's not god's will, it's mothers. We should not forget that it's better in some cases for the child not to be born. And we are not gods, to choose this instead of the mother.

This is a way of God showing His love because if these people had been born, God might have wound up sending them to His personal eternal torture chamber.

You must understand the fundy thinking. God's will only applies to good things in this world. He doesn't cause bad things to happen to people only good things. Hypocrisy isn't it?
