Believe it or not I had only vaguely heard of the twin towers and so it was nothing to me. I said to the person who told me "Oh, yeah?" and calmly went about my business. Since then I have seen them in practically every movie I see. I watched the news that day over and over. It's hard to believe it happened. I visited ground Zero last month for the first time ever and got choked up. But I still think that the US should pull out of Iraq. Fight the war from your own ground.
I am British living in a Crown Colony.

Dad was driving me to school because I had missed the bus. When about halfway, we tured on the radio, and instead of all the usual laughs and giggles of morning radio, the commedians were all serious, and they said that the World Trade Centre towers in New York had collapsed. (I live in Australia, by the way.)
At first we thought that it was just a new radio game or something, but when they kept on saying it and no music came on, we rang my mum back at home and told her to switch the tv on at home.

After a while, there was a call in from a listener. It was a young man who was in tears and sobbing as he was talking. He said that, when cars are driving to and from a funeral, they often drive with their headlights on, and that out of respect, he asked if anyone listening could do the same. Dad turned on our lights.

It was peak hour, and every single car we passed that morning on the way to school from that moment on had its headlights on.

Honestly, I didn't believe it. I thought my coworker was playing one of his little mind games. When I walked in that morning, he said "I hope nobody is planning on flying to New York - a plane just crashed into the WTC." Then we turned on the news in the break room. The rest of the day was weird - like walking through a nightmare wide awake.
