Tell him the truth!
He should respect your wishes and not do anything that annoys you. If he continues to do it after you have told him not to, then you ought to drop him.
Reason: This is a sample of his behaviopr in the future when you are living together. He will be doing things at his own whim and fancy and your views will not matter to him.
The choice is yours to make.
