i'm assuming the problem is coming from your rear derailler? first of all, have a local shop check to see if the rear triangle is bent, then check to make sure none of your cogs have bent teeth. check the chain for kinks and made sure your adjustment screws are not ran in too far or out too far. if nothing is bent or out of whack, then the cable tension is off. cables strech over time and you may need to strech the elasticity out of your shifter cables. good luck.

It sounds like like your gears out out of index, if they are only out by a little bit you can adjust the barrel screws on the mechs (dreuliars) and shifters to pull more/less cable which should bring the mech (dreuliar) back into line.

If you can't get enough adjustment with barrel screws you may have to undo the cable at the mech and pull more/less cable through.

If this doesn't fix the problem it maybe that your chain or rear cassette (gear sprockets) are worn and need replacing.

It depends on the make of your deraileur mechanism. Shimano have the technical brochures on their website. These often show how to adjust the mech to ensure that you get smoother changes.

Also, check that the teeth on your sprockets aren't worn. This is often the reason behind slipped gears.

Find the model of your part here and see the tech brochure. Good luck and have fun at the repairs!

If you paid to have it repaired take it straight back to the shop and complain and they will tell you exactly what the problem is. It might be due to worn teeth on the sprocket rather than the derailleur itself.

You didnt say what brand is it.
First of all, the gear, the changer, the disc, must be of the same "group" meaning they are all the same manufacturer.
And if they are, you got to bring it to "real deal" bikeshop where it surely must be "fine-tuned"

you may need new cables... when they stretch or lose tension, it affects your shifting. some of the other posts make sense too, so check your deraileurs and hanger to see if anything is bent.

sounds like you derailers are out of alignment and need adjusting

- unless they are bent

check out this website - adjusting your derailers is very simple as all you need is a screw driver.
