I am a muslims and i know the answer to that. Women wear viels, so that they wouldnt be "hit on" on the streets by people. Im not saying only muslims but all kinds of people with different religions. I have also seen this in Lebanon. Believe me, it is better for a women to wear a viel and walk in an alley, that not wearing one and making men want to rape that person.

Muslims women wears hejab because she wants to be respected and protected.
Many muslim ladies wear business suit and hejab /veil as well ( coz veil is not what covers your body but the hair)
Muslim lady does not want to look like independent sexual object. Veil is benefit for her. Lady in veil is more beautifull than any half naked girl in mini skirt..

men cant control themselves and to stop women acting upon lust and not love! frm being used just for sex coz Islam treats women with respect and dignity. It helps them to stop being used like some sex machine thats on offer when ever a guy feels horny! Thats what i called respect and modesty. Look how well Islam treats women.

Muslim women do not have to wear a face covering all the time. There is in fact no place in the Quran or in the Sunnah that states that we do have to wear a veil. It is required for all women to cover everything but the face and hands (and depending on who you speak to, our feet) in the presence of men who are not family members or a husband.

This is for the modesty and protection of the woman not to be seen as a sex object but as a person. Only the goods should be seen by the husband. Men are required to cover everything from above the navel to below the knee.

Women who choose to cover their face do it as a form of hiyah (modesty). It is not required but it is not frowned upon. A lot of men like it when us women cover completely. That way they know, the goods is for them and only them.

Women can still wear regular clothes as long as it goes with the "muslimah dress code". I have on a business suit right now.

Hijab is actually not the head scarf. it is the full outfit for men and women. As long as the clothings fits in these guidlines, a woman is safe:

Body must be covered

Loose Clothing-The clothing must be loose enough so as not to describe the shape of the body.

Thick Material-The garments must be thick enough to hide the shape of the body and the color of the skin.

Modesty-The dress should not be ragged or fancy. It should be clean and dignified looking.

Clothing is only one facet of hijab. It is also behavior, manner, and speech. Women who wear the hijab do not find it inhibiting, impractical, or interfering. We wear the hijab to show our identity as muslims. More importantly, we wear it to show our love and respect for Almighty Allah and his instructions.

Here are two passages from the Qur'an that order the hijab:

"O Prophet, tell your wives and daughters and the believing women to draw their outer garments around them (when they go out or are among men). That is better in order that they may be known (to be Muslims) and not annoyed..." (Qur'an 33:59)

"Say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that will make for greater purity for them; and Allah (swt) is well acquainted with all that they do. And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; and they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what must ordinarily appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty to their husbands..." (Qur'an 24:30-31)

By covering our beauty, we are evaluated for our intelligence and skills instead of looks and sexuality. Many women who cover are filled with dignity and self-esteem and are happy to be identified as a muslim woman. By wearing hijab the woman is concealing her sexuality but allowing her femininity to shine. Aside from that, it is pleasing to Allah and in return we earn blessings from wearing it.

plain and simple God wants women to dress in modesty and to cover their hair. WHY? because women are like gorgeous Gems and they are to be protected from the evil in this world.Why women have to cover their breasts and not men. ? Because women and men in reality are physically, mentally and emotionally different. Women in Islam should cover all of their body except there face and there hands and a man in Islam should cover his body from his belly button to his knees. A man is also not aloud to expose his body but if u look around women are exposing their body more than men do. Those are the laws of God and there is so much respect for women. women in Islam are like diamonds, cannot be touched or seen except with God's permission. She can have sex with her husband and husband can have sex with her wife but not outside marriage so as to be loyal to each other. Its nowonder the divorce rate is so much high in the west and thier marriages are not everlasting because they dont stick to one husband and wife but different boyfriends and girlfriends. Its not natural. Thier not sincere with eachother. Our women should not walk with bikini in the beach. look at the magazines, women of today have become Sex-sell things. They are portrayed like show pieces, u may never have seen an add without a women. A woman is used to attract people not men. Islam respects women and puts them on a high position. As Islam is the continuation of Gods messages the other religions like Judaism and Christianity also preach that women must be covered but those religions were being modified. Have u ever wondered why NUNS have to cover but not the priests?

Western society falsely claims to have uplifted women

Western talk of women’s liberalization is nothing but a disguised form of exploitation of her body, degradation of her soul, and deprivation of her honour. Western society claims to have ‘uplifted’ women. On the contrary it has actually degraded them to the status of concubines, mistresses and society butterflies who are mere tools in the hands of pleasure seekers and sex marketeers, hidden behind the colourful screen of ‘art’ and ‘culture’.

United States of America is supposed to be one of the most advanced countries of the world. It also has one of the highest rates of rape in any country in the world. According to a FBI report, in the year 1990, every day on an average 1756 cases of rape were committed in U.S.A alone. Later another report said that on an average everyday 1900 cases of rapes are committed in USA. The year was not mentioned. May be it was 1992 or 1993. May be the Americans got ‘bolder’ in the following years.

Consider a scenario where the Islamic hijaab is followed in America. Whenever a man looks at a woman and any brazen or unashamed thought comes to his mind, he lowers his gaze. Every woman wears the Islamic hijaab, that is the complete body is covered except the face and the hands upto the wrist. After this if any man commits rape he is given capital punishment. I ask you, in such a scenario, will the rate of rape in America increase, will it remain the same, or will it decrease?
