Ok so I got alot of feedback on L.A. I want to move to a new area from Ohio but I'm not sure which. So what about NY like Queens, or Brooklyn. It is closer to home. I know I'll be able to find a decent place to live within my budget and find a job before I move, but what are the people like? Is there diversity? Is is worth living there? Is it better than L.A?
Where would you go?
I am a single 20 something yr old girl, no kids trying to do her own thing. I am about done with Ohio.
NY or LA?

I am looking for a whole differtent atmosphere. Somewhere where I can have fun, be around great people, see the sites. I just want a place where I can feel good about living there. I don't feel that here in Ohio.

Ok I have lived on both ends of the US for long periods of time. I have also lived in Ohio. This really depends on what type of life style you are looking for if you want Hollywood glitz and glamour, moderate temps Cali is the way to go, but your dealing with economics and a lot of starving artists and Cali really does sleep at night unless your into that scene. You being from Ohio might like LA better because of the personalities more laid back.
Now NY really never sleeps, you can find a job doing almost anything has the 4 seasons that you're accustomed to and no earthquakes with a lot of culture way more than cali.
Its all about what your looking for in life?

how long do you wanna stay there...? Well, I'm sure you didn't need a public site to tell you how to weigh up the pro's & cons of each place... but I think you should think about what things you are looking for in a place & what you want to be able to do there... how you like to speand your leisure time etc...

Can you spend a little time in each to get a better feel, even just a couple of weeks? Then you can use your instincts. If you got a lot of feedback about LA, maybe you could post a question asking about the kind of info you want about NYC... or scroll through this section - you'll find other people have asked similar things & you might get some indirect feedback or ideas form that.

Im sure you'll have a lot of fun in whichever you choose. For me... Id say NY!!!
Good luck with your move! :)

I spent over 50 years in L.A. It is crowded, expensive, polluted, crime ridden, very spread out. I have been to New York once and it made me even more nervous plus they get brutal winters. If I was a young person again I would pick Dallas. The suburbs are inexpensive to live in, there is plenty of employment, there is better shopping than in L.A., gas is 50 cents a gallon cheaper than L.A., the people are friendlier. The winter is pretty mild usually. July and August are very hot but the rest of the year is pleasant. You do not have the ocean like L.A. But you have nice lakes to recreate in. Besides the ocean in L.A. is polluted half the time from sewage runoff. Plus white people are a minority n L.A. and there are lots of gangs. Dallas suburbs have better schools and I think it is a much better place to raise a family.

Neither. Raised in NYC do not recomend it to anyone.

if you must move to NYC look into Williamsburg or Park Slope (in Brooklyn) or Astoria or Long Island CIty (in Queens)

still wouldn't go to it though.
