I dont know what "commercial " aircraft sailor and leaann have flown but the speeds given are way off for most if not ALL commercial jets.
65 mph...give me a break...I land faster than that in my single engine 180 hp 2,400 lb plane!! Hell it stalls at 60!

For a 747:
For a 747 the landing APPROACH speed is
@ gross weight of 880,00lbs (flaps at 25 degrees)
is 188 knots(215 MPH)
@ 450,00 lbs groass weight, (flaps @ 25 degrees) is 134 knots(155 MPH)
landing speed will be around 110-120 knots (135+- MPH)

take off VR (Rotation speed) dry runway @standard temp., sea level pressure altitude
flaps 10 degrees,880,000 lbs gross weight is 177 knots.(204 MPH)

Commercial jet aircraft on finals will be travelling at least 150 mph before a landing, typical safe landing speed with 30 degrees of flaps is 140 knots ( about 160 mph) and thats just about for all commercial Jets, they have to be travelling within altitude speed limits by aviation law anyway, so there is little likelyhood of a Jet being too fast on finals unless landing procedures have not been followed. As most Jets now "autoland" the chances of having to "Go around" and repeat the whole landing procedure are reduced".

That depends upon the aircraft and the prevailing wind conditions. Landing speeds typically range between 125 & 175 knots.

Highly depends on the type of commercial jet.
Do you want airspeed or ground speed?

In general most larger commercial jets flair around 110 KTS. Which is right before the wheels touch.

It depends on the type aircraft. Within20 miles of the airport jets have to operate at speeds of less than 210 knots. On final B747's die down to about 160 knots while C17's maintain about 190, til about four or five mile final

It varies, depending on the type of aircraft. A 747 cannot go as slow as a Cessna for a landing.

A commercial jet must be flying at approximately 180 mph to make a safe landing.

Landing and take off speed is somewhere around 65mph, but of course it depends on the weight etc of the plane.

the previous poster gave you some specs, and of course each aircraft and loading is a bit different. But a pilot will typically have some margin with these numbers and come in at ~ 220mph.
