Best thing to do for your teeth is get lots of calcium in your diet (from dairy products or supplements). Brush and floss your teeth twice each day, and avoid drinks that can stain your teeth like coffee, tea, and cola.
To help whiten your teeth naturally you can brush carefully with baking soda once a week.

I had braces on my bottom teeth and I didn't really feel any pain when they were applied. The length of the process is determined by the extent of work you need done. I had four teeth that were mildly crooked and I had to wear braces for about a year and a half or less by a few months. The braces will move your teeth most likely within the first month. They will seem perfectly lined up in no time, but make no mistake that if they braces are removed at this point they will surely go back to their undesired state. The first couple months will be the most painful. I couldn't eat sandwiches for a while. Everytime you bite into a solid food, it will feel as if your teeth are moving and it is very painful. The pain won't last long, though. Everytime you have your braces tightened, however, you will feel some discomfort for a week.

Its quite simple really...brush your teeth after meals, don't eat too much sugar and every now and then use warm water and salt to rinse your mouth and gargle....its better then certain mouthwashes.

However getting cavities also has a genetical element. But they're not the end of the world either! If treated early, the tooth remains alive and well, and it won't be falling out.

Whitening teeth with bleaches only makes them weaker. Normal healthy teeth are not supposed to be snow white or shiny enough to cause sparkles :P Bleaching weakens the enamel, which is the tooth's natural protection.

In a sense your question is self defeating....strong teeth need calcium added to them on a regular basis....shiny teeth are usually polished or bleached, both of which reduce the strength of tooth materials.

If you have a lot of money and want "easy" you can get tooth veneers that are simply covers for your teeth that look perfect and do not hurt your teeth...that's the good news. The bad news is that you are talking for $1000-$1500 PER TOOTH.

Much cheaper is get a tooth whitening procedure from a dentist, none of the OTC whiteners are much good. That will fix the shiny part, but the "no cavities, no plaque" stuff is still just plain brushwork with flossing.....day after day after day.....there just ain't no substitute for it...........

Good Luck!

Floss regularly. If you're just beging to floss, your gums may bleed for a week or so. That's because your gums are loaded with bacteria. After that, flossing will be painless and bloodless as well.

After your gums are in good shape, head to a dentist. Most do cosmetic tooth whitening these days.

I've tried the Crest white strips, but didn't see much benefit from them. Getting them cleaned every 6 months is a big help.
