Sounds like a great idea! It will soon be time to potty train my two-year old and I think a fun box will at least keep him sitting on the potty for longer than 3 seconds! I'd suggest some of his favourite little books, a couple of toy cars, some wipes (essential part of any toilet routine!) and perhaps some pens and paper so he can draw pictures of toilets etc - lovely I know but it seems to work. Good luck :)

I found toys to be a distraction for my 2 yr old.
We'd chat while she was doing. Quality potty time !
1 sticker for a number 1, 2 for a number 2 and if she got five stickers a day, she could watch 30 mins of a DVD. If not five, then no TV or DVD. Took 2 weeks and bingo.
Try different approaches and see what works for you. Every child is different. Good luck !
Also, I found that just using underwear (no nappies) really speeds up the process. Sure there will be a few accidents, but nappies just confuse the message that you are trying to send.

mayby you can buy him some special toys only for the box instead of putting in his favorite toys, so he knows that they are for only when he goes potty, or you can find something he really wants and give him a gold star as well and work towards something even bigger then the fun box. Good luck with it I had fun trianing my son girls are so much easier!

I read my son simple books when hes on the toilet. It helps with his language development at the same time as keeping him entertained. Hes two, I suppose it depends on his age. Maybe something like a magnetic drawing board would keep him entertained for long enough.

I have done magic water. Placing a couple of drops of food coloring in the water to change it after he goes. Start a sticker book. Buy LARGE stickers for #1 and small for #2 and for just attempting to go.

I found that toys in the bathroom were a huge distraction and didn't help at all in the potty training process. My daughter would just go in the bathroom to play and nothing else, so we took the toys away and only allowed 2 books, both potty books.

We sing 'ba-ba black sheep' while he's sitting on the loo. Don't ask me why, but it seems to be the perfect length for him to poo along to!
