A son of a friend of mine had a high fever that just wouldn't go away. To make matters worse, the doctors said the child's blood platelets were badly affected. Then my friend's brother-in-law enters the picture and asks the child to take sips of this "Tawa Tawa tea" or whatever that concoction was that he made. In a just a short time, the kid fully recovers without any trace of the fever and his platelets normalize. The child is now back to his old self, which is destroying the furniture in their living room. Can any qualified person out there tell me that my eyes and ears weren't playing tricks on me when that episode happened?

This was not an easy find. http://www.selfheal.co.nz/herbs.html it also goes by the name Beilschmiedia tawa. It is said to have treating abilities for cold, fevers, wounds and more. As far as where you can get it from, I found nothing. Maybe if you check with a local herbalist they may have more information. This episode if very possible, as a lot of medications are extracts from natural plants and trees.
