They started locking it and many other cold medications up because they make meth with it. Now they have you sign for it (in most places) and keep track of how much you buy. Any one that buys more than the "normal" amount is turned in to the feds for investigation. Also this will probably be happening soon with baby formula, they are using that to make a more "pure" form of crack.

By having it controlled they can identify quantity purchases that might be used to produce meth.

It was changed so that a pharmacist will have to give it to you because it is used to make meth.
