I think what you have there is a management problem. Like other duties within the work place, training is required. It would appear that some of the employees/employers have had poor TOILET TRAINING in their past. Perhaps an afternoon devoted to one hour of proper Toilet Etiquette would be in order to resolve this issue once and for all. Then, anyone coming into the company from then on would get the same Toilet training.
Those men, who have been properly trained by their wives, could give the other men (slobs) some pointers. Standing in, sitting in or just plain smelling another's waste is rude and lazy behavior. A little courtesy will go a long way. Those who continue to act in a barbaric manner, without cleaning up after themselves can be sent home for the remainder of the day WITHOUT PAY! If married, a note to the effect should be sent home with them that must be signed by the wife before they can return and be respectful. There, that should help.

i have no idea whether there are rules or not, im sure there must be some type of regulations in relation to that, but im just going to tell you, i would equally be disgusted to see men at my work disrespect the women's bathroom only because the majority is men than women. they have to consider that thats not your fault nor thieirs, its the company's fault and for that they should consult the manage than break the rules.
if i were you, this is what i would do:
i would team up with the girls and decide on a little plan, go to the guys and say, 'ok, whatever, you want to share bathrooms? then fine! we will...lets see how you guys can take it...' begin to make up all the possible ideas to gross the men out, for example, a woman's period, leave used daily pads or period pads half sealed or whatever, leave drops of blood in the floor (I KNOW I KNOW I KNOW IT GROSS but do it JUST to make them gross out) clog the toilets and say you never threw anything down the toilet, put on a LOT of perfume and leave the bathroom stuffed with too much smell, leave make up powder all scattered in the sink, use up all the toilet paper and say you just needed it really bad, i can go on and on, but the idea,
confront the jerks and gross them out, at least thats what i would do.
going by the rules and following the laws, im sure theyll be restricted to following them, but im sure they will eventually get back to it as if nothing ever happened.

It is really not just inconsiderate or rude for the men to even enter or peek in the ladies' bathroom but it is outright wrong. Listen, what's fair is fair. Go to the top supervisor and voice a complaint and do indicate that this has to stop. If that person refuses to do anything, well, there ARE alternatives to fix HIS/HER proverbial wagon! Check to see if there's a Civilian Advice Bureau; if not, call the Labor Department (they may really take a stand on this); and if not, call the ombudsman in your area and ask for advice to where you can make a formal complaint... they'll tell you how to put a stop to this. Good thing my daughter or my ladyfriend doesnt' work with you... ! Seriously, don't put up with that.

Although I am guy, I can be objective. I can see why the men feel that they can use the ladies toilet, given the ratio, but I know that would never fly at my work. Are the guys respectful? Do they barge in when you are in there? Do they lift the seat and return it? Do they use the spray when needed? If you answered yes to these questions, then you have no case. If they are disrespectful, I would consult management. Remember that these are guys and the less you want them to do something, the more they want to do it, or get even if forced not to do it.

Yes there clearly is a health and safety rule and moreover its your right to have a seperate toilet and you dont even have to talk to any one just make sure that no one uses the toilet which clearly says "For Females" the guys must talk to the employer to arrange another toilet for the them.

Think yourself lucky, female toilets have cubicles.
I've been in male toilets, using the urinals, when women have come in to use them.
So don't think this is just a male thing, females do exactly the same if they are having to queue.
And to solve the problem why not get your bosses to put combination locks on the doors, and only let the staff have the combination to the one they are supposed to use.

many states have unisex toilets. Maine for one and many places in Vermont. but if you want to stop the men from going in put a lock on the door and only give the key to the 5 or 6 woman.

Do I understand correctly, you have only one bathroom, but two toilets?? If this is accurate then an employee can choose to use any they wish. Different if a man went into the "ladies' room.

Well actually it is against working regulations to do this; men and women should have separate toilets in the workplace - if you have a "head" office, file a complaint with them and if not I would suggest speaking to your local Citizens Advice Bureau

I think the chances of finding a health and safety rule are pretty slim. I think you have a right to be annoyed if they are getting piss all over the toilet you want to sit on.
