Yeh, I'm not kidding.. an Apple will wake you up better than a mug of coffee.

I've given up coffee, I stick to Tea and fruits..
and I gotta say, I feel better than ever. Healthier, livelier, and none of that sick feeling in the stomach that too much coffee causes.

There is nothing better than a hot cup of coffee on a cold fall morning. Though, you could try a nice warm cup of cider. Try to find seasonal drinks. Winter, hot cocoa. Spring, iced spring cherry green tea. Summer, iced kid's cuppa.
(To make those iced teas, you'd want to use 6-8 teabags per 2 quarts. Fill pitcher halfway with room temperature water, and let steep 3-4 hours. Add cold water when finished steepig. Using hot water gives the tea a bitter overtone.)

A glass of water and a walk. Or some form of mild exercise. I find cool drinks better to wake up to than warm.

Caffeine is a drug many are addicted to. If you try decaf coffee, you would still be getting that delicious cup of hot coffee to wake you and you cannot taste caffeine, you can only feel the end results.

An espresso drink made with pepper powder, ginger powder, cinnamon and chocolate powder (equal parts of each). You'll feel great, but don't expect to be brilliant intellectually that day.

a cold shower, or yoga, or exercising, then a cold shower.. these are better oprions although not likely to be used instead of coffee for reasons of time economy
