Damn! Is it time to clean that thing out AGAIN?? :-))
I have five cats, a great big litterbox, and I have to clean it twice daily. :-))
My naughty Petey comes and gets me when it no longer meets his standards...

To those who associate the litterbox with awful stenches, and the burning ammonia odor of feline urine, here is some advice:
Buy scoopable litter. The kind that clumps. A good brand, for multiple-cat households. Scoop out the clumps, once or twice a day, and replenish (do not completely replace) the supply of litter as it is reduced. Change the whole supply maybe once a week or so.
I used to buy the cheapest cat litter available (after all, they were only going to mess on it and in it, right?). The litterbox had an awful odor, no matter how many times I cleaned it out and washed it out.
A friend, who also keeps cats, suggested the scoopable, clumping litter.
While my litterbox will never smell like roses :-)) the difference is AMAZING.
The better litter IS more expensive, but it lasts MUCH longer than the cheap stuff, and REALLY reduces the odor.

I think of a one eyed cat who can't make it to the litter box so she pisses all over the place, especially on any cloth material or the carpet squares on the ground. Thus making the apartment smell like vile ammonia.

I think of someone who hasn't taught his/her cat(s) to use the toilet; it is so easy that I laugh when I hear people talk about cleaning a litter box or having to buy cat litter or dealing with litter box odors... sheesh! All they have to do is ask at a pet shop! If that pet shop doesn't know, call another until you find the answer.... it's stupid easy!
