My son twiddles his nipple (or mine) at any and every oppurtunity, i wasnt worried until the nipple became red and swollen, it dosen't hurt him it just looks painful. He don't have a dummy or any kind of passifier.

I am sure that he will soon outgrow it or reduce the pacifier qoutant down to amnagable level such as when he is tired..

The up side of it is that he cannot forget it anywhere and make you life hell because you cannot get it for him.

However touching your nipple is a definate NO, No! and you have to calmly and clearly make it plain that that is not acceptable to you or anyone.

You might want o stop and think about when he does it. Id there a pattern to it? I know you say at every opportunity, but maybe he is short on sleep or feeling stressed by changes in the family/rountine?

Knowing what will trigger it empowers you and helps him. Good luck.

Although many children will find a form of comfort toy or such it is an idea to wean them off it before they start pre school or nursery, it might be worth giving him a bottle teat to play with instead or make the nipple off putting by putting vasaline on it the texture will be different so not as comforting plus it will sooth any irritation if there is any, if you are still worried contact your health visitor or GP for guidance, they won't laugh at you or think this odd.

Depending on your sons age, it is very normal for young boys or toddlers to fiddle with any and all parts of their body. If he is doing it to the point of being swollen and sore, probably a just a quick trip to the pediatrician can rest your mind. As for as pinching your nipples, that's a little different story. He needs to learn that is Mom's area and noone touches her there because it is inappropriate and may also cause pain,

yes it's OK. Unless he's in upper school other wise his teacher may find it embarrassing if he tries it on her. If he's pre-school try a cream for his nipple and possibly find a substitute of a similar texture. Try and keep yours out of the way. Only a perversely minded person would worry about it. He's only interested in the differences. I do not think a dummy would help as it's a touch that he's looking for.

Kids will go through this. My cousin used to be comforted by her bellybutton. It is perfectly normal considering he does not have any kind of passifier.

it sounds like he's in the discovery state... he realizes he has the same body part as you. if he is a baby/ 18 months it might be okay, but some children keep their comfort things until they are 5... that might be where sucking his thumb might be better. or even a pacifier too... that's if you are worried about it being off... yes it is odd, but all kids find something for comfort. Just make sure you are comfortable with his choice of comforters.

maybe just try and encourage another comforter like a particular teddy bear or something. also it's probably a good idea to stop him playing with yours. how old is he?
