Hopefully, good for the kids, as well as me to all learn at least the basics. I told myself that in 2006, I would learn Spanish, so it's time to get on it!!! In the car is a great start.

Rosetta Stone is a great program for at home use. If you want something in the car, go with a Pimsleur program.

I'd suggest getting an exchange partner and asking him to do some recordings for you. Then you can make a CD with those recordings. It'd be more fun than simply buying CDs. Of course, you'll have to be careful of what the recordings will contain.
I am doing something like this for a Norwegian girl who is helping me learning Norwegian. I send her a phrase everyday. It is a clip of less than 30 seconds, and I include the text and its translation to English. This way, if she needs somethng specifically, I can send it the next day.
