They have been trained to break out of the starting gate and run when asked.
My ex-racers race each other in the pasture when you turn them out.
They all go to one end and then will run for the other end of the pasture as fast as they can go. It looks like a race. Then they stop and snort and prance around. Looks like they enjoy a good run.
