it doesnt matter about saving some for after the baby is born because i hate my job and my employer is an a.rsehol so i wont be goign back there afterwards

Usually you are guaranteed your total 12 weeks off. And you will need at least 6 of those after you have the baby. So count back from there. Also if you doctor is concerned he will let you know when it is time. And last but not least, you can always request to go to shorter workdays. I have done all three of these options. I think the shorter work days was the best, because it keeps you involved in something other than your pregnancy but you can get all of the rest that you need. I worked that time all the way up until 2 weeks before the baby was due. Then I got to stay home longer after I had her. It worked out great:) Good Luck and congrats!!

if i were u i would stay in work for as long as i could when ur at home pregnant ur counting the days an imagining things are wrong with u. u drive ur self demented over thinking! stay at work for as long as u can keep ur self occupied if u can work right up the time will go alot faster. maternity is 26 weeks supposed to be 6 weeks before an 20 weeks after.

In Ireland maternity leave can start in the 26 week and it has been expanded now. I'm not sure but it has increased to something like 20 weeks off work.
Anyway take your maternity leave but YOUR NOT OBLIGATED TO RETURN TO SAME JOB AFTERWARDS.
In other words you can take your maternity leave, decide not to return after and not be ask for return of money.

the earliest you can go on maternity is 11 week before the due date. however it is probably wise not to tell your boss that you don't expect to return as this could have a knock on effect, it's always wise to have that safety net of a job to return to, you can turn it down later as long as you give your employer four weeks notice which in theory could be the last four weeks of your maternity leave (or the required amount of notice as stated in your contract)

just be careful here because if your employer is going 2 pay u maternity leave then u dont go back afterwards u may have 2 pay it back. it happened 2 a friend of mine.

Its up to you. If you have any benefits through your employer they may have some say in it. I'm not leaving until 6 days before my due date.

anytime but personaly i would wait until just before u have the baby so u can have as much time as u can in the first stages of life
