Salt is primarily a problem for people with high blood pressure or people with kidney disease. It is not really a factor in weight loss UNLESS you are retaining water. If you have a tendency to retain fluids, salt will make the problem worse. Obviously, if you are retaining water, you are carrying around the weight of the water, too.

adding salt doesn't add calories/kilojoules, however keep in mind that approximately 1/4 of the weight of table salt is sodium. And most adults EASILY exceed the daily recommended amounts of sodium (1500-2000 mg), so be careful. There is also iodized salt which contains iodine (to prevent goitre), better than sea salt.

As long as it is just a pinch, that is fine, just don't overdo it. A pinch is very small. Just don't use a tablespoon. That would be too much.

salt will cause your body to retain more water than it needs...try herbs and spices instead fro taste improvement, they're a lot safer and have positive beneficial results on your health as well
