I have some baby clothes and baby gear and some other misc. items that I would like to try to sell on ebay. I have opened a seperate checking account to make it easier for things like this. How do you know how much to charge for shipping? I have no clue where to start! Please help!

I also want to know how to start. Does it pretty much walk me through everything? Does it tell me how to upload pics? and how to set it up? is there a minimum bid amount to put in? I have no clue!!! I have never bought or sold anything on ebay!

First, get some feedback. You should really start eBay off by buying some things, this will give you a feel for how it works and it will give you credibility to your potential bidders. If you're really not in the shopping mood buy something cheap such as a 99 cent ebook (you can find them even cheaper) or digital recipes.

Next, take clear & large photos of your items, you can upload them using a free service such as photobucket.com

Describe your items in detail including any flaws.

For your listing title use good keywords that you think people will use to find you.
Search completed auctions to see what other successful sellers are doing.

For baby clothes start your bid low. Unless they are designer clothes you are better off selling them in lots of similar size.
Shipping should be as low as possible for baby clothes. You should offer 1st class shipping if the package weighs 13 oz. or under and also offer Priority shipping. check www.usps.com to calculate rates. When weighing your items don't forget to including packing material as this carries some weight too. It's best to ship baby clothes in a tyvek bag rather than a box as the box weighs more. Trust me, parents shopping for baby clothes know this and they will not pay extra for shipping.
Open a Paypal account so you can accept Paypal. This is important. Most buyers like using Paypal and will not even bid if the option is not available.
Best thing you can do is just get started, hope this helps!

Ebay walks you through the shipping info, it allows you to select the shipping methods you want to offer buyers. You should know the weight of the items to calculate this, and what kind of packaging you will use, USPS has a flat rate box. Take really good pictures, and be as honest and descriptive as possible in your posting. Ebay won't charge you for the listing until you entered all your info, it then shows you what the item for sale will look like on Ebay, and then you confirm that this is what you want.

I can tell you as a seller, people will trust you more if you if you have some feedback. Buy a few cheap odds and ends and let people know you are trust worthy by paying on time.

Next, you can go to www.usps.com and get info on shipping. Buy a good, cheap postal scale. I got mine on eBay for $19.00 brand new, you can put the box to mail in, the clothes and invoice in the box, put it on the scale and it weighs it. You can use this for Calculate shipping on eBay. This will allow your buyers or bidders to know how much they will pay for shipping to their zip code.

Also, if you use Priority Shipping via USPS and many do, your Priority shipping boxes are FREE. Any size, can be delivered to your house free, you can order those at the same web address, no shipping and handling either. AND, you can have USPS pick up your package when it is ready to go, by the same website. BTW, always get Delivery confirmation when you mail a package, this proves where the package is in case someone says they did not receive it, for Priority it is free, for Parcel Post it is less than a dollar. Very worth it...

Best of luck to you...

Hi well I have been selling on Ebay for awhile and what I do for the shipping is ..I make sure I have the correct weight of the box I'm shipping ..I bought myself a cheap scale..And then hit sale my item and fill in all the necessary information..When you get to shipping use the shipping calculator ..It will ask you for the weight and the package size and then it will do the rest for you ..So when someone looks at your item they enter their zip and it tells them the shipping price..It is very easy..Good Luck and hope this helps...

You can select an option in your listing for automatic shipping calculations based on the buyer's location - that's probably the easiest way to start out.

You can also go to UPS.com or USPS.com to calculate shipping for the item to a state far from you and then set a fixed shipping rate.

There's too much info to go into on here. Go to the website and read up on selling. It's not that hard once you get started. Some people set a flat shipping fee for their shipping charges. Be sure to consider the handling...boxes, packing supplies, etc. in your shipping prices.
