To start you need to get all the dry ends trimmed. If you have alot of split ends they have to be trimmed off even if it means 6", if the hair is damaged it will not strengthen on its own. If you have split ends and refuse to cut them you will get nowhere fast. Split ends rise, if you don't trim them the ends will rise, 1/4 in. of split ends will turn to 1/2 in, than 3/4 in. and so on, you will gain no length, but actually loose length. I know this because I do hair for a living. I see chicks come into the salon I work at all the time and say I only want a trim. If they have 6 in. of dry damaged ends they only want 1/4 of an in. off. It is just a waste of time for you and your stylist. If the hair is damaged 4 in. or 6 in. up the shaft you need to take that hair off and get it healthy.

If your hair is damaged you are using something on the hair that is not good. It could be styling product, a certain shampoo, perms, color or maybe all the above. Alot of damage come from people buying over-the-counter hair color, straighteners or perms and not knowing how to properly use them.

Also cheap drug store products can cause alot of damage to your hair. Alot of store products contain high levels of alcohol because alcohol is used as a preservative for when those products may be sitting in a warehouse for as long as 6 yrs before they hit a store shelf (alcohol is what alot use to keep the product fresh) When you purchase professional products you might see that alot of the bottle packaging changes more often. The reason why is because alot of the professional salon brands change their packaging every 3 yrs. to assure you that you are getting fresh product, not something that is old.

Your hair is what you put on it or you could say what you feed it. You really need to see a professional stylist.

I am sure you meant long and strong right? For starters try eating right so you are getting plenty of vitamins and minerals next you have to make sure that you use products that are not harmful to your hair and third use filtered water on your hair that does not contain clorine and fouth making sure you have a good blood supply going to your scalp by massaging your scalp by brushing your hair gently or just use your finger tips to massage your scalp.
