I think they got their name since Satan is the opposite of God and also symbolizes selfishness. Selfishness being bad in Gods eyes and essential to satanists that believe in no higher power other than themselves.
(The original Satan was not an enemy of God by the way, he was a servant.)

Well, satanists, are all different, and few that i have ever heard of follow a rigit, doctrine, (some do), BUT NOT many,,
I guess satan, is considered the opposite of GOD, but really , i would not give that too m uch thought, as that is a waste of time,
There are so many other positive things to learn, and focus on,,
I do not understand satanists, real goals, and reward, and belief system..
SOME ARE JUST GOTHIC, GOING THRU A CHANGE, AND REAL SATANISTS, AND THEY DO EXIST, IS A subject that you should ignore,.. nothing good comes from spending too much time on that,
and it is sad if any humans think that there is nothing greater, than themselves,, that is very stupid, and sad,, for them..

Because then it would loose the shock value.
Most Satanists claim to worship the self, but they really follow the late Anton Lavey, a wife beating bankrupt pimp who couldn't make it work either.

It's a joke, and sometimes even a con game for other people who'd call themselves worshipers to give away their money to a few who call themselves priests.
Some of the big con people involved were people like Anton Levey, and allot of them still use Satan as a bad reference. I've heard one say "I meant the bad Satan, not the good one."
Humans are funny.

They are attention seekers that adopted the word "Satan" because it would be controversial, and it is futher obvious in their rituals. The excuse they give for using the word "Satan" is because it means "contender" or "opposite" because they believe they are challenging all religious dogmas, but that is obviously ridiculous when we see them wearing read, having little horns, doing fake sacrifices, and other stereotypical Satanist garbage.

I didn't know if they worshiped themselves, if they are Satan, then I guess they would. I just know that I do not want to have anything to do with him. I have Father God and Jesus on my side and that is the only ones I want around me spiritually.
