I downloaded a movie (whole) and it won't fit on a cd when i go to make a vcd. Instead of going back and finding two parts and downloading those parts I was wondering if I could split it myself?

Yes that is possible. First I have to know this whole movie is in what format? is it an .AVI file? or a DVD image?

I will be assuming it's a whole DVD. You can get the latest Nero (nero recode 2) software and when you choose the target file size, there will be the option to autosplit file on cd (various presets included) or by you can get it done manually by choosing the details you want. If manually, you can choose which chapters to encode, so you can encode a range of chapters to a cd and the remaining on another cd..and so on...

On the other hand, if your movie was a single .avi file, just use a splitter to split it however you wish.. Softwares like boilsoft's video splitter and avi-expert are good choices. Nero may also split avi files too, but if you don't have it or if it doesnt work for you i suggest these splitters.

I hope that helped.

Hjsplit may be used to splite movies in spite of the fact that i'm uncertain no remember if it rather works on dvd gamers you should apply autogk to encode the image to a smaller format or purchase a double layered disc :)
