both countries have their good and bad points.
singapore is a former British colony that is multicultural (malay, chinese, and hindi), speaks english as main language, but is strongly islamic, which has led to very strict morals. jaywalikng, littering or spitting can get you a "caning"/ whipping by bamboo-it hurts. it is therefore very clean and its modern buildings are beautiful.
do visit nearby malaysia and its wonderful capital of kuala lumpur which i think is a better place to live than singapore. the language there is english as well and the laws are not as islamicly strict. it has beautiful beaches.
turkey is an islamic country as well, but is considered a secular and moderate one. it became an independent country after the demise of the ottoman empire after WW1under a leader called kemal ataturk. since the majority of the natives were ottoman and seljuk turks, it became know as turkey, which is the main language. there are large minorities of armenian and kurds in eastern turkey - a very dangerous area. however turkey has many sights to behold as it has been the crossroads of many cultures, wars, religions and history. cappadocia and antioch in the southcentral and east , respectively are where the early christian faith got its roots (Saul of tarsus became St. Paul). Alexander the great chased king Darius over these lands.
in the southwest along the Aegean sea are islands like Rhodes (colossus)
in the Northwest is the ruins of Troy. Lastly then, of course, is the fabulous and cosmopolitan/historically rich city of Istanbul (formerly Constantinople(sp?) & Byzantium). so you see for many reasons, from art to history turkey is the better choice, except for the growing anti-american sentiment through central and eastern turkey due to the iraq war and israeli-lebanese fighting.

Personally,I'd like to say Turkey. I'm not gonna give you a history lesson on why, but simply,I've had enough for living 30 years in Singapore.
Then again, there should be no reason comparing Singapore and Turkey because they are of 2 very different society structures and government systems. Singapore and Malaysia perhaps, but definitely not Turkey.
Meanwhile,I will not apologize on behalf of those who treated you nastily cos I know there are a**holes out there on this island who are simply ignorant and they totally deserved it.I've personally met a few. But then again,I've known of people from other countries who would have treated non-fair-skins far worse than what you had gone through.
In conclusion,99% of the people in the world have no freakin' choice of where they wanna live in because they have no choice. There are nasty people all around the world and you just happen to meet them in Singapore.
Last but not least,I wish you had gone to a nicer place than Singapore.

For some answers, let me clarify that Turkey is not a social dictatorship. Where did u get that idea from?
I doubt you have any idea what you are talking about.
Never been to Singapore, though Turkey is a great country to visit if you are into history and nature. The people are very friendly and hospitable as well.

There may be some racist people you have met but most Singaporeans are not racist as Singapore is a multiracial country, where majority races include Chinese, Malays, Indians and Euracians.
Hope you don't get to meet those racists on your next visit to Singapore!
