Cementum is mineralized connective tissue covering the external surface of tne anatomical roots of teeth, its the external layer of dentin, which is the calcific tissue forming the body of the tooth. Collagen fibers are a type of connective tissue fiber, gingival and periodontal ligaments are examples of collagen fibers. The nerves and blood vessels are what keeps blood supply to tooth and keeps it alive. When nerve dies, you will have bigger problems, Root canal or in some cases you could lose the tooth. Hope this helps.
