Well it depends on how much your current stats are. As a rule of thumb, if you want the weight loss to be healthy and longer lasting you should only be aiming to lose a maximum of a pound or two a week. In which case I would say that it should be no more than a stone you should aim for by November 1st.
If you are significantly overweight it may come off fast the first few weeks, but if you are fairly average weight it will take longer.
If you are already at a healthy body mass index or less than the optimum then please reconsider losing that much weight.

You should easily and healthily lose 2-3 lbs. a week but that depends how overweight you actually are.

Normally people will lose alot in water for the first few weeks so you could potentially see a dramatic loss in your weight if you work out daily and cut your calories.

The only problem with losing alot of weight quickly is that you will not have trained your mind and body to realise that it is a lifestyle change that will make you keep the weight from returning.

Your body will constantly be wanting to get back into it's old way of life. So this is why, losing weight slowly and over a longer period of time ends up with better long term results. Over a longer period of time your body and mind will become more accustomed to eating healthy and exercise. It will forget the old lifestyle habits.

That's the real trick.

But you can certainly lose your desired amount in the time frame you want to - but a word of caution - make it last and don't stop after November 1st otherwise the weight will all return.

How much is a stone and a half in POUNDS?

Probably 2, 4 or 6 POUNDS in a week is reasonably safe to achieve.

Remember, most of the first couples weeks the weight you lose is water! After that, the real weight starts coming off.

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.

I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.

It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

I've lost 5 lbs in a week before, but that's working at the limit of what is healthy.

Also consider the fact that if you are working out, you're going to trade fat for muscle weight. In other words, you can end up slimming down quite a bit without losing much weight, whereas many people lose a few pounds but still look totally fat.

Get into the gym and lift, it helps a lot.

as a member of weight watchers i am told that it is healthy to lose between 1 & 1 1/2 pound a week. Basically the longer it takes you to loose weight, the more successful you are likely to be in keeping the weight off because you are retraining your eating habits.

It takes a while but stick with it, it'll be well worth it!!

In order to lose the weight and to keep it off, you must lose it slowly - no more than 3 pounds a week.

if you start now, that is exactly 3 pounds a week between now and the 1st October

Yes it is possible. The first week of a diet, you tend to lose the most weight anyway, although this is mostly water retention.

It is healthy, as long as you are not starving yourself, and you are exercising.
