It was written in this context and has no meaning outside of it so trying to interpret it in any other way is just wasting time.

Because much of the Bible was written over 2000 years ago and the rest was written just less than 2000 years ago. Nearly all of the symbolism and analogies were significant to the time period in which it was written, and they make less sense today. There aren’t that many books that are that old around today, so the Bible only makes sense when compared to itself and not, say, People magazine.
There’s also the factor that it was originally written in ancient Hebrew and ancient Greek; the same contexts in those languages don’t translate easily into our time period and culture. Further more, the Bible has been translated and retranslated many times by many different people (That’s how you have so many different versions of the Bible). It’s not an easy book to read sometimes, but it’s still a pretty good one.

1)....any of various hallicunations rising up
2)....abundant along the atlantic coast of the US where it is
3)....branch or place where something divides into branches
4)....with a projector and a screen for the private viewing of motion pictures

these are straight from Websters dictionary -- do any make sense? 3 & 4 are pretty easy, might take a little thought but....1&2 could be anything....
just as with the Bible - some verses can stand alone - in the beginning there was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. John 1:1. However still others need the full contect to be able to fully comprehend.
God Bless.

The bible is a written account of Jewish annd Christian history for the most part. It explains historical events from the perspective of a Jew (Old Testament) and Christians (New Testament). This perspective is religious and spiritual in nature.

It is a matter of faith and belief.

Unless a person views it with the same faith, it makes very little sense. However, a believer reads its words, reviews the historical accounts and sees how God's hand moved in the event. A believer looks for similar events in his own life and logically expects God to respond or act the same way he did in the bible.

In addition, a believer applies its teachings and precepts to his own life circumstance.

However, none of thise makes any sense to a person who does not believe its account of events.

The bible is only the bible to those who believe. To others its just another book on the shelf.

The word of God is alive and powerful sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of the soul and the spirit and of the joints and the marrow, and it is a critic of thoughts and intents of the heart Hebrews 4:12.

The Bible has been subject to the most rigorous principles of scientific inquiry and has been substantiated by countless archeological discoveries as stated by Jerry Rassamni.

Regardless of the time the many books were compiled together to form the Bible, it does not make any literal sense outside of it's own text because it is false.

It wasnt meant to be understood with a literal mind, but a spiritual sense. U cant try to understand the "Creation" as described in the bible with your mind literarily. U need to see it as if it were supernatural.

The bible was written by man inspired by God. It is His plan that its meaning only be revealed as it is needed. (Read the book of Daniel). It also takes a pure heart and a genuine thirst for its knowledge for the bible to be understood.
Pray for God to fill you with His Wisdom when reading it- you'll be amazed!
