my psycho kitten gets in my plants (and everything else). i don't want to use mothballs (poisonous) or buy a spray (expensive and may not work). i've read that cats don't like tea leaves and tried that but my cat actually ate them. i'm at wits end with her. any other suggestions I could try (other than killing the cat)?

Hi Alea...consider using orange peels (something citrusy) combined with laying tin foil loosely over the soil surface. Cats find the citrus scents quite revoltingly strong and the foil disturbing as it feels unstable under their feet. I've also placed double-sided tape on the foil for added insurance since cats truly dislike being stuck to the tape. The foil makes such a racket as well that it is added benefit when they are trying to shake loose from the tape stuck to the foil.

If you decide to try a spray, citronella is considered one of the more effective sprays for cats and is not harmful for them as well.

Put aluminum foil around the base of the plants. Cats do not like the feel of the foil on their paws. Then after the kitten has stopped then you can probably remove the foil and then she won't bother them anymore. This worked for me.

Line the bottom of your plant (where the dirt is) with foil. Cats don't like the feel of it. Pretty soon, she'll forget about the dirt in there and maybe you can get rid of the foil.

It worked for my psycho cat.

I solved my problem by spraying the leaves with vinegar it not only keeps the cats from chewing but also kills aphids. Also, place stones on the soil surrounding the plant. Mix the vinegar with water.

Sure do. I have to agree with ThatLady. Put aluminum foil on the soil. My cats hate the feel of it and it scares them.

Human hair? It works well in out door gardens for pests, such as raccoons and even dogs....

ask the stylest to keep some after your next trim, and sprinkle it around...

Best of luck

my cats are super curious too.. they never listen, and will never learn (like jumping on the table lol)

i would suggest, if possible, to hang your plant in a place your cat cannot reach. :)
