If you are really sick, you already have a good reason and no excuse is needed. You may try telling him the truth that you are very tired and cannot work and need the day off but if you think that is not going to go down well with your manager then you will have to lie about your condition. And that will be a shame on you as you will be telling lies. But if you really, really need the kind of excuse that I think you want, a tummy ache, diarrhea, headache, backache, migraine attack usually cannot be ascertained by a medical checkup and is as good an excuse as any for missing work.

Severe upset stomach, you can't leave the house if you are on the toilet all the time.
IBS. Irritable Bowel Syndrome
That reason given, will not have another question thrown at you, for example: you still could have come in.
No, I don't think so, with a bad stomach. I needed to poop in the comfort of my own Pan. lol

ok,my favorite is....i was on my way to work when i slipped and fell in to a juniperberry bush, once inside i found a gateway to an other world, one in which all employees are given as much free time as they want and one in where after many years of electoral campaign i became the king and ruled over all my subjects with a firm yet fair hand, after my long standing reign was over i found the afore-mentioned juniper-portal and was magically whisked back to my house only to find that in juniper land 45 years had passed while here on planet earth only 24 of our earth hours had elasped....and if that doesnt work(but i think it will, its a sure fire winner!)you can alkways go with....sorry boss i got well pissed at the weekend and couldnt be arsed showin up!!!!(although ive had contracts terminated with this one,so best opt for the other world thing!!!!)good luck skiving

The only 2 reasons my boss doesn't want an employee to work is they have diarhea or throwin up. I work in a restaurant and they think it can spread to other people if it's a virus.
If you're tired you better rest up while you have the day off. Eat a good nutritious meal, soak in the tub , sleep if you have to make yourself, and stay off computer.

Be vague and general
"I feel like Ive been run over by a bus"
"I didn't get any sleep last night"
"I think I may be coming down with something"
"My <> thinks that I shouldn't try coming in today"
"My body just says don't get up"
"I'm feeling nauseous (spelling?)"
But, I'm just like you I feel racked with guilt - even if I am not fit for work. It's that damn protestant work ethic. Fight it. Have some 'me' time - it will benefit the boss tomorrow, when you come back with a bounce in your tail!

If your boss is a male then just saying its due to 'womens problems' is usually enough. They wont ask you anything else. But if your boss is a female this isnt a good excuse because she may ask too many questions and tell you that her symptoms are worse then yours and she is still at work.

tell the truth or tell me what you have already used, coz I guess you just won't the day off,I've come up with some stupid reasons why I won't be in,just don't get caught out in a place where your not meant to be due to your excuse, but most of mine that I use are possiable.

Get your Butt into work anyway.
If you do call your boss, be sure to tell him you are feeling tired and lazy today and wouldn't be worth the day's pay, so staying home will actually SAVE him money.
Or not.
