well, i don't have a really promising news for you:
(quote)No dog is considered non-allergenic because all dogs produce dander, saliva, and urine which are the offending allergens. Any dog who sheds skin, urinates, or licks has the potential to become a problem for an allergic individual.
There are dogs that produce less dander, however. For instance, dogs that shed their skin about every 21 days include poodles, airedales, and schnauzers.
Whereas, breeds like cocker spaniels, basset hounds, German shepherds, and Irish setters shed their skin every three to four days.
Dander can be controlled on most breeds with the proper diet, bathing, and grooming.
this means to me, that if you wanna keep a dog you should be aware that your rashes and allergic reaction can happen any minute, irrespective to the breed you are keeping and that you shall learn to live with this condtion if you decide to have a dog. sorry=(

There are no hypoallergenic dogs. Period. No reputable breeder would ever guarantee you a hypoallergenic dog. And if a breeder or a pet store told you the dog is hypoallergenic, you need to leave right away. Yes, some people have less allergies to certain types of dogs, but it isn ot a guaranteed thing. And, for everyone who talked about dog hair, they can't be trusted. If they don't even know that it's not hair, but dander, that causes allergies, their 'facts' and 'opinions' can't be trusted. There is also no such things as a Tea Cup dog. This is a 'brand' made up by unethical and irresponsible breeders to sell puppies. Run away if anyone advertises or promises you a tea cup anything. Remember, don't EVER buy from a pet store, a backyard breeder, an internet ad or solicitation, or a newspaper ad. First, consider rescue. 25% of shelter dogs are purebred and there are thousands of homeless purebred with breed rescue groups. Secondly, read up on what makes a reputable breeder so that you don't support one who increases the euthanasia rate by breeding irresponsibly.

What does "hypoallergenic" really mean?
To be hypoallergenic is to have a decreased tendency to cause allergies. Hypo means less, not none. Hypoallergenic dog breeds will still produce allergens, but because of their coat type, will typically produce less than others. People with severe allergies and asthma will still be affected by a hypoallergenic dog.
There is no such thing as a non-allergenic dog.
What coat-type makes the difference?
There are two coat types that produce a lesser amount of allergens: single-coated dogs, who do not have a thick undercoat, and hairless dogs. However even hairless dogs can produce enough dander to to affect a highly allergic person.

I've always heard that a poodle is the best kind of dog to get if you have allergies. Plus poodles don't seem to shed as bad. A toy poodle would be great for an apartment. We had a toy poodle for 15 yrs until he passed away. Poodles are extremely smart & also very loyal & loving. If you keep him bathed & brushed I would think that would help with the allergies to. But I say definitely a poodle would be your best bet. And don't let him on the bed to keep the pet dander down in the place you sleep. Call your local vet & ask for their suggestions also. Best of luck to you! I hope you are able to get a doggy to love! God bless!

I don't know if there is such a thing as a hypoallergenic dog. But your best bet for Apartment living, lack of shedding, and general cleanliness is a Basenji. Here's a website.

I do! I have a toy poodle, who stays in an excercise pen and has a litterbox on one side and a crate on the other. I live in a one bedroom apartment and outside of the yapping(which i took care of with a product called "stopbark"), the dog has no problem living here. he doesn't shed, and if you bathe him in an oatmeal shampoo, he's even lmore agreeable to your allergies. and he loves the attention of all the other tenants. just make sure you train him like he's a dog, not a child.

get a hairless one or none at all.
I really wouldnt sugest getting a dog if you have allergies. What happens if the dog does effect you? then what are you going to give it up? chances are you will get a puppy too cause it will ahve to be a special breed not a humain society dog. then when you cant keep it you will end up having to give it to the humane society and it wont be a puppy anymore and then no one will want it and bla bla....
just dont get one.
