So their genitals don't get chafed? To keep their butts warm. To have another cover over their genitals if their outer clothing should rip or split. To make more laundry so the detergent makers sell more product. That is my guess without doing a search of the history of underwear.

I think, that we wear underwears because it prevents the joint in pants in the butcrack area to get into the crack.
For decency.

Secondly, when one sweats lot, the pants don't get wet from ur perspiration.

Thirdly, the underwears help in absorbing ur p droplets, if any, left after u p.

Along with these facts, in case of men, the underwear prevents the foreskin(P-nis) from getting caught in the pants zipp/zipper....

for men underwear is for holding the ball and for girls underwear is covering the hole. underwear is extra protection and give more confience.

me as a male it is ( yes ) but for you not necessary to rub its lips easily and get fingers in quickly!
