My girlfriend and I are both really stubborn people so we tend to fight about stupid little things. We have been dating for over a year, and we really like eachother. We have talked about this problem but we dont know how to solve it. How can we work on becoming less stubborn?

Stubbornness is a character flaw. If you are fighting over stupid things, I think you love each other but you don't like each other as much. Change has to come from both of you, but individually. You cannot change him and he cannot change you. I would say that a great deal of self-improvement is needed here. Keep the lines of communication open.

You have to know the root cause of your fights or should I say disagreements. You have to know what compromise BOTH of you will be taking into account and what things you should do to remedy them. If you are both stubborn only when upset, angry or frustrated then by all means that is normal. You have to accept that all of us are human and we were given emotions including being stubborn at times. But you both should know when to stop, when to concede and how to pacify each other. If you are upset and gets really stubborn what would you want your girlfriend to do to you? Would you want her to cuddle you? send you apology letter (if she is at fault)? send you sweet email? call you? then whatever is your answer to that ...maybe that is how she wants to be treated when she is upset or stubborn. Do unto others what you wanted to be done unto you. What does your instinct tell you to do? what does your heart and feelings tell you? Do you really care for her or love her? Act on it because women are emotional creatures and so are men.

When your in a situation where you find yourself being stubborn. Just think for a moment and realize what your doing. Then Do the exact opposite of what your doing. Show her your trying to change. It would really surprise her. Then she might start doing the same for you.

how about using that stubbornness to make things a little livelier in the bedroom... :D go from stubborn to a little wrestling match and that should get the old juices flowing - and that stubbornness become a turn on!!! ;)

It's called being more flexible. You don't give examples of what you fight about, but everyone is entitled to their opinions. If it's a question of something that can be looked up, look it up and you will know the answer. If it's just opinion, give a little and be more open-minded. I'm talking about both of you, not just you.
