well it sounds like maybe he wanted to give you the other stuff but couldn't afford it! and so he wrote you that cute little message! I wouldn't worry about it even if you are his G/F maybe he thinks of you as a good friend in addition to being his G/F! and it did say love you! not like you! so maybe thats his way of saying i love you! If a guy gave me a message like that i would love it! because it is cute and sweet and sort of romantic! And remember this all great relationships that work had some base in friendship first! and often you might hear a couple that has been together for years refer to each other not only as lovers but as best friends too!!!!!!

Sounds to me like he is trying to tell you that you are more important than just gifts or money. He seems to really care and is thankful for having you as a friend.

seeing as men usually say what they think and dont beat around the bush,it would seem he loves the relationship you have and values you as a friend,,cant really say he means more as he doesnt say but you can hope if thats what your after.

i think he just think of u as a friend not gf or commited to u....having a friend is priceless if u r a true friend...
