why are you asking this question? Is it cause the anniversary of 9/11 today and your getting a bit nervous? Or is it just that you are sincerly interested? I can't answer this as i don't live near London but there are extra community police where i live not paid policeofficers. Figure that one out!!! Uk governement are liars they say one thing and do another. I don't do politics but after what happend 5 years ago in america and what happend here i start to look after my own neighbourhood sorry if this offends anybody it's the way i am now!!!

I had a bit of a problem of how to answer this question, but here goes.
There are a considerable number of extra police in and around london most are now plain clothes, i will not bore you with the different types of units out and about, i think you meant uniformed, try and commit a major offence and see how fast someone will be on you, as i said they are there but you are not aware of who they are.
Don't forget there are plenty of cctv cameras that are not visible, don't worry somebody is watching.
