I was watching a young Cronullan lady yelling abuse at some 'people of colour' telling them to go home. When the abused 'ethnics' affrmed their ozziness, she denied it and told them that they are not Australian.

How true is that lady's claim? where do the affiliations of migrants, such as myself, really lie?

In this day and age of true globalism, where are the notions of nationality and patriotism? are they now outdated? Should we have a pan-national identification methodology?

Is John Howard right in asking immigrants to integrate? In thta light is it OK for Asia to ask the West to integrate with what will soon become the world's next financial and population hub?

Your ideas...

The only 'real' Australians are aboriginal - everyone else came here by plane or boat. There are racist 'white' Australians who don't like anyone of a different colour or culture, but there are racists right around the world and if you have travelled widely, you will realise Australia is a very tolerant, multi-cultural country.
Don't let the bigots get you down!!

Australian natives are not white. So how can this lady be telling them to go home. They are home. In regards the rest of the question, humans are territorial and they behave just about the same anywhere on this earth. We have our prejudice against political affiliations,skin color, religious believes, music, clothing and just about everything else you can think of. The world or governments will never be one due to this fact. Its been like this since the beginning of time and it will continue. Education and tolerance will only better the situation we find ourselves today.

I am an Australian my for-fathers are from England, my mothers background consists of English, Irish decent, I was born here and I consider myself an Australian I speak the English language, i have no true religion, I married an Australian with Scottish, Irish and Aboriginal background. We believe you should if you believe in the Australian culture and way of life, and you are prepared to abide by the Law, speak our language, have your own religion then you are on your way to be like all of us multicultural with a whole lot of other bloods running through our veins.

my views are :
australia is made up of multicultural population
white australians are not native to this country - aboriginal /indigenous australians are
everyone of every race including white has immigrated/migrated to this country from somewhere else in teh world and that is what makes up australia
AUSTRALIA = MULTICULTURE
That is AUSTRALIA
