Wow. Your friend has really made some big changes!
I'm a Latter-Day Saint. Here are some of our basic beliefs and practices (and yes, some Mormons choose not to do these things):
-Active Mormons don't drink coffee, tea, or anything alcoholic. (Herbal tea is the exception). Mormons are taught that they shouldn't smoke.
-We are taught that we should not have sex outside of marriage. (And within the marriage, there is to be no infidelity).
-We are asked to pay a 10% tithe. The money goes towards helping the poor and other such causes.
-We are taught that families can be together forever.
-We believe that Jesus Christ is the Savior of all mankind. Some people misunderstand and think we believe that we don't need Jesus to be saved. Actually, we believe that we can only be saved because of the sacrifice that Jesus made. We believe in being saved by grace after we do all that we can to repent.
-We don't believe in the trinity but rather that Heavenly Father, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost are 3 seperate beings who are 1 in purpose.
There is too much for me to write here. A good place to read about some of the other beliefs is to go to one of the church's websites.
If you ever want to ask your friend any questions, just try to ask in a respectful manner. If she is very new to the church, she might not know all the answers. But she would probably be happy to tell you what she knows.

Mormons, well religious people in general are a wacky bunch. I myself could understand how that would be an uncomfortable situation. yes she has probably changed. With religions come certain rules. Sex usually is something that really isnt talked about when it comes to religion. Personally I think religion sucks the fun out of things-but I got sidetracked. As long as she doesnt act as if somehow she is better than you than there shouldnt be a reason you guys cannot be friends. I mean yes it is fun to talk about men but men get boring after awhile and there are so many other things you guys can do and talk about so neither one of you feels weird.

properly the place I stay mormons refused to circulate away inner maximum sources on countless events and the police had to be called to eliminate them. Now while any style of missionary is seen interior the section the police require them to circulate away pointing out the previous mormon incidents! Why are you greatly surprised people do in comparison to mormons? learn the bible and christian ideals with the mormon e book and ideology and it is so basic as day that mormons purely declare to be christian with the aid of fact they're afraid to stand up as an fullyyt separate faith! have you ever no longer seen the classified ads with people doing well-known issues with the line “and that they are mormon”? seems the mormon hierarchy know that they are seen no longer purely as an extremist cult yet additionally so distinctive to regularly occurring people!

There is nothing wrong with being a mormon. Your friend found a religion that will bring her happiness and that she will know who she is. Sometimes personalities change when religion is brought into the equation but you can still have just as much fun as before as long as it accomidates your friends religion. There really isn't anything inappropriate you could ask her. Believe me I am a mormon and people thrive on answering people's questions about our religion. It won't bother her one bit so go ahead and ask.

Feel free to ask her anything you want. There is no reason it should affect your friendship, in fact you may become closer friends than you were before. There is nothing weird about mormons, they are good people. But I think you are already begining to realise that yourself.
Gee, I found some of the responses above rather amusing! True 'christians' all of them.

She had a scrub down in her brain. Mormons are very devout people who believe judgment of acts performed in life is the ultimate decision of which layer of heaven they will go to.

It sounds to me like in her low point she reached out to God for solace, and someone from the Mormon church was there to help. You should encourage her in her path. I say that with some trepidation, since I don't think Mormons are Christians, but hopefully she will find peace and God will understand.

There is nothing wrong with using religion as a motivational tool...it is all the other ways religion is used and abused that causes people to change, mostly change in the negative.

Your friend has found a religious belief that works for her. It might not appeal to everyone, but as long as she's happy, then wish her well. If you want to know more about her newfound faith, then there are plenty of places for you to research it online.

The church just loves to rescue needy down on their luck moms like your friend. The price she will pay is being totally controlled by the leaders of a cult. Back off; she's being brain washed.
